    300 Feet or 300 yards? I just respooled 8 of my Okuma 15s with 12 pound mono and put 1000 feet (according to the line counters) on each of them.

    300 feet. I feel it's a waste to put that much line on. I respool every 2-3 years. I don't let out more than 150 feet while fishing. Haven't had an issue with it yet.

    I found that my backing line, which had been on the reels for years, had become as twisted as the main line. I took every inch off my reels and put the 12 pound all the way to the spindle.

    I've been using Trilene Big Game Solar for 2 years and absolutely love it. We have a store close by that sells the 4700 YARD spools for $33.

    if you want to "calibrate" the reel, then google calibrating an okuma line counter reel, going thru these steps will make the reel a lot more accurate when using up your reels.

    Hey Rees;
    How do you keep track of how much line each rod has out when you have 6+ rods out when using the depth hunter line?
    GO BIG ORANGE !

    I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

    Pretty easy, I start with my inside rod putting them out, most of the time the short rod has 30, 2nd rod 40, 3rd rod 50 and the longest rod 60, on the other side the same, maybe 5 foot more or less. Much rather look at a line color than I had a reel that the button didnt raise up high enuff to make the counter work.
    PS, all the reels start with the same color line coming off, right now its blue.

    Yes okuma line counter. It's accurate enough to get the job done.

    I do like Hotrod.... Put 300'-400' on mine, not full. I don't care if its "accurate", just as long as they are all the same.
