No....I use PST's and line counter reels for crankbaits. For spider rigging I use BnM Capps and Coleman's with bait caster reels with thumb bars.
I did use them to spider rig when that was all I had but its easier to see the bite with a more sensitive rod so when I could I got the C and C's to spider rig with.

You have to excuse those old Geezers, their minds just wander at times.

I put a spool of line on yesterday....only spool I had at the time....330 yards of 8lb mono....I tied a piece of lead on the end of my line and reeled my line all the way to the top eye and then reset the line counter to 000....i just the length of the 16 foot rod to check my accuracy....when I drop line from the top of the eye to the bottom of my 16 foot rod im getting a ready of 018ft on the line counter so somehow its 2 foot off

Spool your reels with 10 pound mono and go fishing. Sitting at the house worrying about this and that won't catch you any fish.

As long as it repeats the amount of line you caught the fish at... you are golden
Sounds like you need more line on spool. I have depth hunter braid on mine and the spool is filled to the top
the braid and reel show the same amount of line out
