IMHO .... the best jig is a custom made jig. Doesn't matter if you're talking about a jig head, that you're going to put a plastic bait on, or a jig with feathers or other materials .... if it's custom made, you are the designer & the jig maker makes a product out of it. Mass production "jigs" are OK ... but most are rather generic in the makeup (head weight vs hook size).

The one jig head I use most often is a 1/16oz ballhead with a #2 Aberdeen hook & it's weedless (has a Y shaped weedguard coming out of the head). You are not likely to find these jig heads in any store or catalog. They're custom made by one of the members of this site.
And come to think of it .... half of the time I have a custom made plastic body on that jig head.
