All Ive ever had and will ever have is a MinnKota trolling motor. Current, and for the past several years now, I have the V2 with I-pilot and couldnt ask for anything better. I longline troll 99.9% of the time but the tm works great for spider rigging as well as simply "bumping" along if fishing downlines in timber. I dont miss the foot control at all. All I need is the hand held remote and I can do about anything I want with it. Now, that said, I once before owned a Carolina Skiff and when the wind kicked up pretty strong the I-pilot gave me some problems with boat control simply because the boat sat on top of the water and bobbed up and down and blew sideways and was a complete pain in the butt to control. Now with a V-hull I couldnt ask for anything better. Everything about the I-pilot works great with the heavy V-hull I have now. Depending on your boat....if you ever tried the I-pilot (V2 or the Terrova) you might find that that is the only tm you'll need for any style of fishing you do AND with just the handheld remote.
