I think your 798 is pretty much the same as my 598 but with a bigger screen and the preset screen buttons. When you get it out, make some recordings while you drive around and play them at home. I took it out last Saturday - worked as advertised but I had no idea what I was looking at other than the bottom and obvious structure.

This past week I have read the manual, watched YT vids, been read this forum, and played with the settings in simulation mode.

The wife and I are hitting the water this Saturday armed with a little more knowledge. It's a smallish county lake, so shouldn't be too overwhelming. I will take your advice and make some recordings.
