    Good luck and tight lines!!
this thing is smarter than I am. It does have SI and DI. I use both dependent on the circumstances of the moment. I bought it and built it to be portable and it has worked great. However, recently it has developed a problem where any jolt or bump to the device causes it to shut off and a power up is needed. Thinking about sending it to Eufala for maintenance.

have took some screenshots but haven't DL'd them to my PC to view.

i just bought a boat this past weekend with electronics already installed. Don't see me using the 798 much in the near future and contemplating selling it or maybe I will by a little bass buddy type boat for pond and other small water fishing.

Don't send it in. Most likely bad connection where unit plugs into the mount. First thing is to make sure it's completely seated into the mount and latched. If it is pull unit then check to see if power connector is pushed back in its mount. May have to pull cable retainer and reseat plugs in mount then reinstall little metal retainer and make sure it's not bent back not holding plus all the way up. 90% of the time that connection is the problem on those mounts.

It is one of those units that detach from the mount. My eyeball test doesn't detect an issue but your advice to inspect it closer is good.

    appreciate it

Check the power cable for corrosion. The pins are easily corroded. I use a knife to clean the tips. If they get really bad, you'll have to replace the cable.

Like the guys mentioned ... make sure the power connector is all the way up seated in the collector ...

You can also test the connection by removing the cables from the mount and plugging them directly into the head unit to determine if vibration or movement causes power issues ...
