Dang what was wrong with the MG? I wish someone around my area would have one for me to look at in person.

I haven't had a chance to go out but once, I had to have my new Xi5 replaced. ( Motorguide did it and paid the shop to do it so I'm pleased with the customer service...) But I'm really not sure. It comes right on most of the time. But when I was messing with my trolling motor I didn't think it was working but looked up and it was on.... So maybe I was just getting impatient. Either way if I shut it off and back on it comes on.

GPS Quit working. It states in the manual to always unplug it or unhook from the battery when not in use or charging.... But the shop ( which is a Certified Motorguide repair center) just put an inline automatic breaker when they put it in so it was getting power all the time. This Motorguide says caused the "circuit board"( whatever that is) to go bad. But they saw me talking about it on bbc board, and Motorguide's head of engineering e-mailed me Sunday night at 7pm with a phone number to call Monday morning to get it fixed. I think they wanted to shut me up as quick as possible as I was griping about it going out so soon on these boards... lol But they paid a shop to fix it and actually it may have not been installed according to directions, so I'm very pleased. If I'd installed it myself I'm not sure they would have been so understanding about it being plugged in all the time though.
Is a common issue they are having now they said at Motorguide. They should have sent a switch. Or at least had in big red letters THIS TROLLING MOTOR WILL BURN UP IF YOU DON'T UNHOOK BEFORE CHARGING. It says in the directions to use an inline "manual" fuse, so it can be turned off when not using and charging but apparently they didn't emphasize the importance of this enough for some of us.
THanks for posting about the motorguide. I was thinking of buying one of those but aparantly they havent worked the issues out of them yet. Just wish the ipilot link worked with lowrance......
Good info Jimmy and it's nice to know big companies do read what us regular people post.
