It has been several months since I have been into quality bluegill.....mostly because of the recovery period of breaking in this new knee. Made a trip to VFW to fish the bank and while I caught plenty of bluegill nothing of real quality. I decided to drive over to Bedford Lake today and see what I could get into. It has been years since I have fished Bedford and I really did not expect much. Was just hoping for a few decent fish to put a bend into the Eradicator Slow Taper Special. Had the 2017 Daiwa Presso Limited 1025 on the rod spooled with the new Varivas BLue Moon Ajing FC 2# test line. Used a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet on a Daiwa Gekkabijin 1.5 gram jig head with a #8 hook. I spent about 3 hours there and much to my surprise caught 20 Gills in the 8.5 inch range with a good girth. Had one 9.5 inch shell cracker. Caught a lot of Gills in the 7 inch range also. This will not be my last trip to Bedford.....and will for sure hit it up again come the spring spawn. These fish were a ton of fun on the Slow Taper Special and have nothing but good things to say about the Blue Moon FC line.
