Thread: Carl Blackwell anyone?

Out of 34 bumps, nearly all on the nursery or the brown/orange, only 4 fish were big enough for the bucket. The biggest (11 inches) came on olive/yellow w/ silver braid.

Bigfishmama helped me out today. She wasn't getting many crappie, so I set her up with poles that catch slimy fish. She got three channels, eating size only. Colors didn't matter much for the crappie. Experimented with a lot of new combos and got 47, kept 26. Had a fun day with the wife, now that she is off grandkid duty (my daughter's two super nice foster kids were given to their aunt, resulting in a lot of tears).

Nearly deserted today. The lone fisherman when I got there at one said that everybody left pretty much fishless. Frank300's micro in light blue over light pink killed 'em, but they were mostly small. The Thunder Dan got ten, but only three keepers. Most of my keepers were on a black with blue highlights cactus chenille with a chartreuse over white hair tail.
Several Asian guys showed up, and one guy killed them on an ice spoon. He got a couple over 12" and lost three other big ones. One other guy lost one that was over 2# and maybe 2.5#. I lost one that was probably 12 1/2"s. It was a nice day with very little wind and some nice people to visit with.

Sparky405....best i can do is give you a report from a buddies trip a couple days ago. He fished the west side of the fish house on the outside on wednesday morning from 0645 to 8am and he caught 25 or 26 fish and only had 15 that could be considered keepers. He was verticle jigging with a single 1/16 bladed pink jig head and was using a Natural Cricket Bobby Garland Shad. He said others were having a little luck but not as much as him so he was curious if maybe the blade on the head was doing the trick. He also landed a 21" Saugeye on the same jig. I tried it the next night for about 45 min and never got a bite. talked to a couple other guys that had been there a couple hours before me and they had nothing. Sure hoping that lake picks up soon, last year spoiled so many of us. Good Luck if you go out and look forward to seeing a successful report!!!!!

Fished blackwell yesterday lots of small fish. Kept 12 to eat tonight.
