Fished Blackwell last night for a couple hours from 1815 to 2030 and didnt get a single bite. 2 other guys out there with me and had same results as I did. Fished all depths, several colors, weights, jigged, dead sticked, cast and drag right thru brush, Slab Slobber, Nibbles, no attractant, it didnt matter, the fish were not biting or were not there. Ran into into cwbysfan03 out there and he had only caught two before dark and just have to say, that little contraption he made to hold bait, rods, cooler and so on is very neat.
Buddy fished yesterday morning from 0615 to 0800 and caught 7 fish and 3 of those were keepers. He said was approx 25 people there and one guy had 8 keepers in his bucket while he was there.
If you are thinking of making the trip to LCB to get in the heavy winter time bite, hold off. It is not there yet. Yes there are limits being caught by guys that are staying all day long. And some days the fish circle thru there and you can get several, but its not consistent yet. I will continue to fish it several times a week since its 8 miles away and will keep the board updated.
And just FYI....i have been asked by several if LCB fish house is heated. It is listed as a "heated" fish house. It is not. There are two heaters inside that run on timers that the angler can turn. The heaters do not put out any heat. If your going to make the trip and get cold easy, bring yourself a propane heater or a electric heater and plug into the outlets. If two or three people bring heaters, the inside will get pretty warm.
One last thing....Be respectful. Pick up your trash, Dont play loud music, Dont throw out two or three rods, Dont swear when kids are around( A huge problem I have with people and you can bet i will put you in your place if you do it in front of my daughter) and dont fish on top of each other. Just a few things that I have noticed is getting to be more common out there. Not directed at anyone I have fished with this from this board.
well put josh!
Only one comment, Josh.
If Steve brings that electric heater of his (big as a cannon), be prepared to strip off your warm clothes. Last year, he would turn it on and in about two minutes it would get so hot that the whole structure would start to "sweat". You would have to avoid standing under a beam, because it brought the rain.
I'm still working on that crappie cart. I'm looking for a small cargo net like pocket for the back to hold stuff like hat, gloves, etc. Gotta make another rod holder for my ice rod. Also thinking of changing the wheels cause that thing gets a tad loud rolling down that sidewalk...I try to keep it in the grass on the way down as to not scare away the fish!![]()
All in all it does the job, now if it could locate the crappie for me I'd be a happy fisherman.
I lied. Two comments.
That swearing should apply with or without kids. Last year, we had three kids inside, and another guy had two kids. Three guys came in, and immediately it was F this and SH that. My friend told them off, and as they started to come back at him, nearly everyone in there told them to shut up or get out.
As a long-time sports official, I heard a lot of swearing as "part of the game" or when someone was frustrated with what had just happened (heat of the moment), with nothing personal. If it was directed toward someone else, in a personal manner, they got the gate. Many people take swearing as a normal part of their vocabulary, but a little common courtesy says there are places where the swearing should be set aside, and anywhere there are kids is one of those places.
I fished with cwbysfan03 too (nice guy). I noticed that the cart rig is basically blue and white. Must be a Dallas Cowboys fan, otherwise it would be black and orange.![]()
Born and raised Dallas Fan!
Josh, very well written "One Last Thing". That is the main reasons I don't fish docks very often, it seems so many people are disrespectful of others now days, it's just me, me, me. Doug
