I'm probably going to use minnow mostly wit my wife and son and let them have some fun. Hopefully I'll find a spot where they are spawning and nesting. It'll probably be this Saturday when I can take them out. I'll let u guys know how we do.
Here is a good bank spot. It is at Spencer creek. Every year it is a prime spawning bank with tons of brush just offshore. Easy access too. Name: help1.jpg

I launched in Big Creek on Tuesday at 2 pm. Fished up in Big Creek and then went to the river. Multiple spots. Used medium shiners. I did not even get a crappie bite. Totally skunked, not even a sandie. I am really discouraged. Fished over 5 hours. Only about 3 boats there. Nobody did any good.

Tuesday had too much sunshine and had most fished spooked to deeper water until the early evening when they started moving back in. Most folks catching them early in the mornings on the banks during the spawn complain that "they stopped biting"... Baloney! Most will just move to a little deeper water while trying to stay close to their spawning areas. Those buggers will move up and down through out a 24 hour period. A partly cloudy day will keep them shallow longer during spawn. An over night trip of doodlesocking the brush along the banks in 2' of water or less will load the livewell and freezer for a long time.

If you go to Spencer, the bank just east of the boat ramp in that cut going out to the rocky point is good for catching moving spawners. The bank around the corner from the Vada point ramp at Talala creek is also good. I'd fish Spencer if the wind is out of the south, and Talala Creek if the wind is out of the north. This way you'd be able to fish in a wind free area. Good luck!

Launched in Blue Creek Friday at 4. Fished about 4 different spots with shiners until 8pm. "0" Crappie. Two 1 1/2 pound largemouth. Three people fishing with 6 total rods. I can't even spell Crappyie anymore.

Have lurked here the last couple years to get the fishing report and learn some techniques so figure I will try to add to the report as I have had the chance to fish a bit lately. "Hey" to everyone.

Took the wife and two boys to Blue creek on Easter afternoon and fished minnows shallow ~5 FOW and caught 5 keepers and ill guy caught nice bass ~4-5lbs that I thought was the new world record crappie when I first saw it swirl next to boat..ha! He was tickled though.

Went to Wildlife ramp on E side of Wingy bridge on Monday 4.21 and caught 14 nice slabs in about 2 hrs w minnows from bank. There was the usual crowd lining the creek running back E and seemed everyone was doing pretty well.

Went back on Tues 4.22 and caught 2 in 2 hrs.

Took boat with a buddy back to Blue creek yesterday pm. Fished all over the banks, back in the stumps, shallow/deep, jigs/minnows, couldn't buy a bite with cash. Then turned on in ~7-9 FOW last hour of light. Caught 30 on minnows, couldn't keep two rods going without missing hits. Bad news, all came into the boat with their mouths barely able to fit around the minnow. Think we caught one that went in the basket and he seemed like a giant at 11".

Anyway, that's the story, will try to get out again this weekend and will update if so..off to Tball game..

    Cheers,

    Shaun
