When they are releasing water, the best place to fish for crappie is below the dam. Slip corking with a heavy jig head. I've caught the most and largest crappie when theyre running water this time of year.

Slack water is where I've caught them before down there, East side at the end of the rocks where the water creates an eddie

Just below the boat ramp?
si non ire, nescies--Tim
Up stream until you hit the end of the rip rap, throw down stream, if the water is high enough there will be an eddie. They should be on the cut bank down stream from the ramp too.

When they are running 5k or less water, I've seen them caught around the willows South of the boat ramp and the eddie just off the boat ramp.
Reaper, Where Fish come to Fry
Went across Dam Friday about noon. Six boat trailers at redbud ramp and about 18 at the Bluff ramp. Must have been 30 fishermen below dam, saw one fish cought and one man I talked to had cought one. The lake was not into brush that much. Water was low enough at both walk ramps you would not get your feet wet.
Anyone catching at Blue Creek or Spencer with the water dropping?
would it be worth going to oolagah today with the water still going down or would i be better off going back to claremore? I took my dad out to claremore just for a few before the rain and caught a couple small bass but did not have time to find the crappie. I am throwing road runners white with red head, black and chartreuse also throwing tubes red chartreuse and black chartreuse. Any thing else i should be throwing, I heard on here blue black, sandies would be fun to. Any help would be great before the kids throw me in the lake from not catching anything
Fished Friday and took home 15, caught another 10 throwbacks. Pretty tough fishin, caught the majority of the fish casting jigs. Water is still up 7 feet, so most of the brush piles are too deep to hold many fish. The fish seem to be scattered, but not up in the shallow brush yet. I stayed in 15 fow and casted to the banks to catch the few I caught.
Went out Saturday evening after the storms blew through. Got out to a good spot and as soon as I got my poles out I heard thunder. Looked north up the lake and saw the rain coming across the lake. Saw some lightning coming with the storm and knew I'd better pack it in and head to the ramp. Got a little soaked and aggravated, I'd checked the radar before I went to the lake. Guess the storm just popped up. Better safe than sorry I guess, I heard my rods making that static charge noise and followed my gut feeling to run to cover.
