We shopped the OKC BPS right before X-mas, alot of electronics on sale, they did have some Bobby Garland not all of them though? No small size Power Pro, and no Viscious Panfish line at all, plus they had no crappie line on larger spools at all...I'm glad I have vendors to buy our tackle from.
"Never Fry Bacon Naked"
You got that right LR! Lucky Lure Co in OKC does carry the 10/2 PP hi vis for $16.99/150 yds. I have also bought 65# and 40 # PP hi vis from them too. David has a small selection of BG baits too. They are very helpful. Great guys too.
The BPS in Tulsa is fully stocked on Bobby Garlands. If they don't have what you are looking for, simply ask one of the guys and they can get it in for you. They also have the Power Pro in the small diameters. I just recently put the 3lb on my dock rig....IT ROCKS!
Other places where I have found Bobby Garlands: Keyport Marina, Nabatak, Tacora Mart (very small/poor selection), Caney Ridge Marina (Tenkiller), the last store on HWY 20 in Skiatook also carries BG's. Most of these places buy from BPS, and re-sell them to us anyway. So you'll probably have better selection at BPS.
Jims bait also has the advantage of getting me to do special lures for them . Just about anything including plastics. Might take a little while if I have to order a mold . Usually 10 to 15 days at most. pic of the lure ,size and color is a plus. At this time Jim's bait is the only shop I do this for.
I went out today from 1245 to 345 and I had the lake to myself. It was cold but there was hardly any wind. I went to the places I had caught them Sat. and I knew immediately they were not there. There were very few shad or fish on the ledge or brush. I did catch about 15-20 at the same place, but they were mostly 8-9 inch fish. I used the locator on my trolling motor to move up and down the ledge in an area about 150-200 yards. I came across a big ball of moving shad in 22 fow, I dropped in and immediately started catching some nice crappie. The shad ball was 5 feet off the bottom and came up to about 10 feet. The crappie were 12-14 feet deep mixed in with the shad. Last Sat. the shad never moved from one big spot. Today the ball would move up and down the ledge for about 50 yards. If I lost the shad ball I could not buy a bite, but when I located it on my screen it was instant catching. It was a challenge keeping up with the ball, sometimes it took me 5-10 minutes to find it when I lost it. I must have caught over 100 fish and had over 30 keepers. 10 of them were over 12 inches. It was catch and release for me today. Looks like it will be a few days before I get back out, due to the cold and wind.
