    Default Fished Friday..did ok

Well I am new to boat fishing. Just purchased my boat and started fishing last week. I did ok aboug 15 keepers on Friday. It think it was because that cool front came through and it wasn't as hot. Went back to those same spots on sunday and didn't get bit. I only took 5 fish home on Sunday. I was bottom bouncing a minnow rig about 18 inches from bottom on drop offs that went quickly to about 25 feet of water. Seems the fish were holding about 13-15 feet around rock piles and brush piles.

Anyone have any tips on how to make my summertime livewell full??

    Thanks a bunch!

Caught 25 keepers Saturday and 21 Sunday, probably caught double that in smaller fish. The bite seemed to be off a little bit and our skills were too. We had a comedy of errors Saturday and Sunday, but its all good. We took a 12 year old young man with us Saturday and taught him how to jig fish. As luck would have it, he caught the biggest fish and lost another fish that was even bigger. I think he had a blast and we did too watching him catch some good crappie. But my tackle took a big hit from the fishing lesson. I don't know how many jigs that boy went through, and I know he used a full jar of crappie nibblets. The real kicker was I almost had a heart attack when he reeled a crappie all the way up to the end of the G-Loomis rod I let him borrow. I know, I know, what was I thinking letting him use my G-Loomis. It was all worth it seeing him enjoy fishing and watching my other fishin partner laugh at me.

    Default more cats than crappie

drifted and trolled from about 7 till dark around winganon/allens point. had to break in my new spider rigging system. I caught more catfish then I did Crappie..I only ended up with 5 Crappie in the live well. To top it off, I scratched the hell out of my boat on the ramp...and broke my 14 ft wally marshall!!!!! Think I might go out early in the morning before work and get a few early morning hours in...maybe I can catch a slab or 10.

Default a Few more for the fish fry

Well put out at hawthorn about 7 and fished a few coves. I am still new to this boat fishing thing. I spider rigged and caught alot of fish..mostly small ones though. I brought home about 10 keepers. I wish I had a GPS on my boat so I could get the bushpile markers from the corp of engineers. I guess I will keep at it!

Nice morning on the lake though..windy but it kept it somewhat cool. Now, time for work!

Better check again. G.Loomis (Shimano) has recently changed their replacement warranty, and not for the better.

And G-Loomis stopped offering blanks to the builders...again! Most companies now offer a pro-rated warranty.

the only reason I would buy a Gloomis was because of the warantee..if it's gone..I see no need to pay $100-$300 for a pole. There are alot of good rods out there for under $100
