No lake expert, but based on turbity of water, the junk suspended in the water, and the bubbles, I think the lake may be turning over. Then again..I may be full of it.

Wouldn't be the first time I've been told that, lol.

I was thinking the lake was turning over too when we were fishing Sunday. The water was way to stained for no rainfall and we saw lots of suspended junk too. We only caught 11 keepers Sunday. The bite was way off from what it had been.

I agree, The lake does seem to be turning over. stained water and murky. Plus it seems the fish were not holding in a specific depth, I caught them from 4-14 feet.

Talked to my 86yr old friend at church tonight and he caught 18 yesterday in blue creek. That is a great day for him, he anchors up on a certain brush pile and waits them out.

I'm hoping to get out and fish tomorrow. Does the lake still look like it's turning over? I'm curious to hear people's response on how this affects the fish? Does it kill the bite? Or just reduce the visibility?

Well, Lake turnover will definitely affect the visibility, and will reduce the oxygen content of the water. I would search for area or areas of the lake that have the least turbidity to minimize the effect of Lake turnover.

The majority of the fish are currently following the shad deeper into the coves, some are shallow. Also, don't forget to check out main points. I've got a good friend that's fished everyday this last week and has been close to limiting out everyday and finding them in different places than they have been. So don't get stuck in certain areas/brushpiles. He told me the majority of the fish he's been catching have averaged 12-13 inches.

Pretty tough fishing today. The water is still stained, probably from the lake turning over. We caught around 40 crappie today and brought home 18 keepers. We fished brush piles and caught some good size fish, but the fish were scattered and we never really got them to bite like they really wanted to feed. We fished from daylight till around noon. Sure had a good time the weather was perfect today.

I recognize that spot Kevin (CW). Don't worry I won't tell anyone if you won't. LOL. Sounds like a decent day and you are right the weather has been beautiful. I have been trying to get some stuff done around the house before the weather cools off too much. Deer season is about here also, I probably will give the crappie a break until after Christmas.
