A gtood day to make chili, tie some jigs and take a nap in that order :)
Had a buddy meet me at 345 this afternoon and fished until 545. We caught over 50 and kept 35. The quality was good today, most of our fish were over 11 inches with the biggest being 13 inches. We fished a different area today, due to the lack of wind. We found a very small amount of shad and just a small amount of brush on a steep bank in 20-25 fow. Wasn't real sure we would catch very many but the bite was very consistent from 12-17 feet. We caught them on blue/white, blk/pink, and red/char. Anyone else fish?

You guys are really making me want to go fishing talking about all these fish you have been catching.
Made it out this afternoon around 1pm, and fished until 5pm. Caught some nice fish casting and slip corking jigs from the bank. Gave a fellow and his nephew 6-7 really nice fish, with one going close to 2lbs. After they left I caught another 10-12 keepers, but they ended up back in the water along with 20-30 throwbacks. I got enought fish for two big fish fries, so they're getting a free pass. I was fishing about 12-13ft deep in 20-25 fow, using chrt, white, and red and black/org tube jigs. The wind wasn't a huge factor, but it ended up dying down pretty good towards evening, and the ice had thawed well enough to get into my honey hole. The floating ice was the headache.
Thanks Odie and guys for sharing some info. I scheduled off work Wednesday because my regular days off Fri and Sat ain't looking so good weather-wise. I'm going out there Wednesday and try to bumble around til I find some shad balls or ledges and try to sack up some crappie. These reports have me excited. If you see a deep-V Starcraft walk thru with a merc on back (tan and blue) idle over and say hi !!
Came across the dam this AM and there were four boats stacked up on the north side of the island there at Red Bud was it any of you guys? If so how did you do?? Just interested in knowing planning on going out in the morning. Hope everyone is doing well.
Spencer Creek was on FIRE today!! One older fella from out of the area was there, he had a hard time with his gear and only caught 2 fish all day but he still left with the limit of 37 fish!! Mike and I made short work of getting him limited out. I kept everything I caught that felt like it was over a pound & came home with 25 fish, the largest was really pushing 2 pounds. After I filleted them all I weighed the fillets and had 6 pounds of slabs. Great day!!
One more thing. When I got there this morning there was 12 feet of ice out from the bank in front of Roger's hole. When I left the ice was all gone almost all the way down the bank, so the ol' fishin hole is clear and teaming with hungry Crappie!!
Thx for the report, Jockey! I almost made the trip today to try the Spencer area...haven't been there yet.
I took a buddy out today who doesn't get to go often. I wanted to go to the south end but the strong south wind just wouldn't work for the ledges down there. I told him no promises since I hadn't fished N. of Goose Island all winter. I did tell him the ledge pattern had not failed me yet. We launched from Sunnyside and headed to Talala Creek about 830. We went into the creek and started idling around finding the edges of the creek where it had at least a 5-10 foot drop in just a short distance. The shad were abundant on those drops and all the way into the channel. The bite wasn't as fast as last Sat., but it still was a good day. We were off the water by 2 pm. We caught over 150 fish and kept 54 fish that were 10 inches or bigger. We had 17 fish 12 inches or longer, still no really big fish. We caught them in 15-28 fow but the best depth remains 22-25 feet. Today our best colors were electric chicken and cajun cricket.

well took the boat out this evening from 4 to about 6...brought home 15 Keepers. All were in 12' - 14' deep in 15-18 FOW. Some were caught on ledges and others brush. North Wind was chilly!!! But had a blast. Caught all Fish on black and chartruese tubes.
