The min kota has a 100' line I think its for 800#. I fish Oolagah and with all the brush and I use the Richte anchor with prongs sticking out so I tie a second rope on bottom of anchor so I can always pulling it backwards. Is not a problem as have hands free to coil extra rope while anchor is lifting anchor. Have not lost an anchor or had any problen retreiving anchor since went to second rope.
We got out to fish a little while yesterday morning. We fished from 0730 to 1030 on the south end of the lake. Would have fished longer but needed to put new bunk boards on my buddies boat. We caught about 30 fish with 10 keepers over 10 inches. Biggest fish was 14 inches and weighed maybe 1 1/2, didn't weigh it. Was disappointed in overall size, lots of 3-4 inch fish. We must have caught some of those baby crappie that Schifendecker caught in his net. That was an interesting story, maybe that is what those fish we were seeing on the ledges were. I sure couldn't understand that many shad and not a hungry crappie with them. Water temp was 53.8 and we fished strictly with jigs. Best colors were electric chicken and black/chartruese. All caught over brush, none on my favorite ledges. Hope to see several of you next Sat. at our tournament.

had a half day. Fished Will Rogers area. Catching suspended fish 20-22fow. BLue and chart minnow thing from wingnan bait. Just finding a ball on graph and fishing them. Those are nice baits. The plastic is a little soft. Wind was tough. Lots of dinks. Attachment 109050
Inspiring picture! Thanks for posting it. I have heard of following bait balls and swimming jigs through em but how do you recognize which ones are crappie or have crappie feeding on em? Keep your flotation gear handy in that wind Ledge. As you know that area can get some huge rollers in a hurry.Quote:

Thanks Ledge. That IS a good picture. So EB and Ledge- how do I distinguish between crappie and shad in this picture. I have DS and in this pic the snowflakes( fish) seem a little larger and more spread apart or distinct than a bait ball. Is that it? If so where are the baitfish in the picture? Is that really 3 pretty solid feet of crappie? Sorry . That's a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for the answers!
