I fished blue creek yesterday afternoon and the bite on the bank had completely shut down. No one was catching fish. We drove over to Talala and boy was it packed but the bite had turned off there too. I talked to a guy coming out. He said the day before they caught 3 limits but yesterday he fished all day and didn't catch a single fish plus he couldn't see anyone catching anything. I don't know what happened but yesterday afternoon was horrible. Maybe the front coming in?
I went to talala creek yesterday morning and caught 11. in 4 foot of water. Then went to Spencer creek in the evening with son and daughter in law and caught 29 in the last hour of daylight.Biggest being 2lbs and 16 in long. all in 4 ft of water on minnows.
Well, they were biting like crazy again today. Limited out by noon! The big gar and catfish are moving in on the spawning areas. Caught a dozen blue cats. I don't know how if the crappie will stay in there much longer since the other fish species are moving in on them. Big blue cats love to eat crappie!
Fished Talala Creek today and kept 22 nice fish. 17 males and 5 females.
We caught most of them throwing roadrunners. Best colors blk/char and pink/white. We talked to several people and they said the bite in Talala creek was off for the second day in a row. This was my first day on Oologah in a while so it was like fishing a new lake. I am not used to seeing it at normal or below. A lot of stuff I planned on fishing was high and dry. The wind got up after noon and made for a fun boat ride back to Sunnyside ramp.

Just got back from camping 2 days at Spencer Creek, and let me say this has been some of the best fishing I've done on my home lake in a while. We caught boat loads of crappie, and they were some nice ones. We fished both standing timber along the banks in the creek, in addition to rocky banks. Blk/Cht and Wht/Cht big slab slayers were my secret weapon. However, the bite today was rough. We focused on areas that weren't receiving a whole lot of pressure, and ended up with 23 nice fish. Yesterday four of us found a nice lil cove that yielded about 70 nice males and females, but we caught 0 in that cove today. The spawn is not over but you are now going to have to work. Last night at camp we left an ice chest outside inside were two full freezer bags of iced down filets, and the stupid coons opened up the lid and had a feast on us. Your welcome racoon. Good fishing to all!
Hmmmmmmmm, sounds like the coons weren't too stupid. They had a good supper too.
Dangit! Too funny guru! I hope you guys were able to make up for what they took. Dentist and I are thinking about donning our coveralls for an all nighter Saturday night.
That stinks. :( I rank raccoons right up there with mosquitoes and ticks.
Scott S - Ditto that. Raccoons need to be introduced to the country.......Remington Country. A .300 Win Mag should just about turn them into a pink mist. OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH sorry I got carried away again.:o
That reminds me of the last time we camped out at at Skull Hollow. Overnight the coons raided our camp, and ate everything we had! Well almost... the only food item the racoons would not eat were Lil Debbie Oatmeal pies!!! My lil boy loves those things and that was the only things the racoons would not eat for some reason!!! Also, on another trip; my beautiful girlfriend and I delivered KFC one evening, to my future in laws at Osage Hills State Park - in my new Chevy Silverado 4 wheel drive truck. I took the food in and we all had a great supper and conversation. Right at dark racoons were showing up all over the place and several came on the back porch and dug KFC scraps out of the trash can! They wrestled and played while eating the KFC scraps, and that was really cute... until I went to get in my new truck! I had left the window halfway down and the racoons had crawled in and ate a 2 X 2 feet hole in my beautiful maroon leather seats - right where the sacks of KFC had been setting!!! I have never felt guilty of trapping racoons since that moment!!! Maybe there is a reason they wear a bandits mask!:)
