Omg! It has to get better! We were truely humbled!
We tried spider rigging, poles in hand, jigs, minnows, chips, ham sandwiches, cheezits, peanuts, and still no bites!!!! LOL!!!

Odie - What no venison summer sausage and crackers??? No wonder ya caught nuffin ya didn't have de smell on yo hands, man. Wacha matta wich yu?
I have had some of those days, Try everything and nuttin.
Well Sardis Lake was the same this past weekend, might take a few of these nice warm days to bring them back to life again.
I take no joy from reading that some of the best caught no fish but it does help bring back my confindence. Spent a good part of Sunday at Crowder, found fish (finally) but didn't secure not one bite. Normally fish the river this time of year and I think I will be back out in the river this weekend.
Here's my take on Eufaula, It's down like 5'...Dont believe the "official" Corps levels. The last really good reports were in bridged off creeks. When the main parts of the lake are this low for this long the normal pattern has probably shifted to unexpected parts of the lake. So experiment is the word, but the shallow bite can turn on soon!!
I am heading out to Eufaula to fish this weekend. I am planning on hitting some creeks again. I will post something Monday. Yes Lil Rippers the 5 ft in Eufaula is a huge difference. Many people don't understand how Eufaula lake structure is. Leading into most of the creeks are mostly flats area. This has really changed throughout the years increasing the area of the flats from the silting in of sand. It is amazing to have watched what the South Canadian river and creeks have done over the last 35 years.
The low water does change it up but in my many years on Big E it's years like this with low water (steady/not fluctuating) that I have had my greatest success. Will have to see what the next few months holds as to the water level.
I agree with rednchartreuse. My best year ever on Eufaula was about 5-6 years a go when it was 5 feet low. We absolutely caught them like crazy during the spawn. Last year was a close second, but not as good as when it was low. If it stays low I know where I am going to be fishing during the spawn and it is not Oologah.

Bite may be picking up around here, got a report about some of my fishing buddies here in Arrowhead Estates,
catching 7-8 apiece in less than one hour fishing off one of the boat docks by our ramp. Doesn't sound like a lot, but considering how slow its been, its a great improvement.
I didn't get the lowdown on the sort of bait they were using, got this report from a wife of one of my friends.:)
That's right Deerhunterodie and rednchartreuse those low water years were awesome. The fishing was absolutely fast and furious. The only problem is that places to launch the boat become skim.
Alright I am going to fire up the board a little! I fished Saturday and Sunday. Kept 30 on Saturday and 42 on Sunday! We caught them fishing three different techniques. Spider-rigging minnows, Slow verticle jigging, and Corks and jigs around stumps. The best bite was in 6-8 feet of water fishing 3-4 ft deep. The biggest fish we kept was 2.1lbs. We had several fish that went a 1.25 and bigger. We had to go way up the creek to get out of the wind on Sunday, it was gusting so hard it would about blow my hat off! The water temp went from 33 to 59 degrees in 7 days. When we have those 50-60 degree nights those fish get hungry and start moving! We also tried a night fish pattern Saturday night on I-40, we didn't get a bite! All of the fish were caught on the south end of the lake! I talked to a buddy who was fishing out west and he told me that they had cuaght there fish shallow as well! We didn't kill them this weekend but the bite is picking up! Good fishing! EB
Went out Saturday started fishing about 2:00 in the afternoon with water temps from 49 to 57. Caught a few slow trolling using pole in each hand. Wind picked up so we went up in a neck that didn't have much wind. Anchored boat in 9 ft of water and fished a submerged tree. We ended up catching the majority of our fish here. We slow vertical jigged at 4ft depth. I pitched a cork before leaving up towards the bank and caught one. We finished fishing at 5:20 because of the long boat ride through a stumpy area of the lake. Didn't want to get caught having to navigate through that mess after dark with the wind blowing so hard. Ended the day with 17 and two over 14 inches pushing over 2 with eggs. Guys be careful out on Eufaula the stumps are going to take out some lower units of those people that blow and go.
MrRodBender is right about the stumps! I was idling out to the creek and got a little to close to a point that stuck way out farther than I anticipated. I run my boat almost all the way up on it! I know the lake pretty well and have been guiding without any electronics on the back of my boat, but I am going to have to put something on there due to the lake conditions! Some areas are down right dangerous so please take your time! EB
I fished on Sunday out at Hickory Point. We decided to run the gaunlet and fish close to Bodark Creek. Caught 6 in about 2 hrs all good fish. 9 fow about 3 ft down. Seems as though we got our bites when the sun would come out
Folks here in Arrowhead Estates are catching them from the local boat docks and it appears that the bite is picking up. Spring spawn is just around the corner.:)
Went last Saturday (sorry so late posting). Caught about 30 and kept 16 over 10". Nothing over 1 1/2#. real strange thing, mostly females, and non of them had egg sacs of any size at all. I mean about 1/3 the diameter of a small string bean.
Fished in 10 FOW and found the fish at 6'-7'. Fished down south near Elm Point.
Is mum the word? Where are all the reports for the Big E. The board is usaully going with them this time of year. Have the fishermen on here gotten the lock jaw like the fish do?
Need some info from anyone. Heading for Gaines Creek Thursday, is Hickory Point high and dry or can you still launch there? Plus is it better to go up the creek from Hickory Point or head back out towards the main body from there?
I was at Hickory Point on Saturday, and the only trouble I had was finding a parking spot... Was able to launch my 17 and half footer with no problem. Also had some big bass boats launching. Just watch the stretch heading from the launch to the creek as water is 2-3 feet in most of the area.
Good time to check out all the structure that's normally located in 4-5 feet of water as it is high and dry right now. I'd motor slowly unless you're in the creek channel.
Fished with my 5 year old so didn't catch too many fish, but he had fun which is all that matters. Talked to quite a few people and heard everything from 30-40 per boat to nothing. It was pretty windy out there that day and cool in the morning.
:)Kept and cleaned 25 on Sunday the 27th off my boat dock on north end of lake on minnows. 12' of water at 6' deep. Only a couple under 10" that swallowed hooks. Included a 13 1/2" that weighed in at 1lb 8oz. (Took a pic of that one with my daughter). Several around 11" to 12". They hit from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm in a mad rush. Ran out of minnows and had to head back to town or I could have kept going. At least the Crappie think its spring!
Nice! She dont look like she wants to hold it? The bite should really pick up this week. Welcome to the board from Longtown.
Barkett = Great Post and Pic. thanks for the report and keep'em coming.
We fished Saturday and had 34 keepers. The bite for us was slow all day, but we had some big fish. We had one that was 2.0 lbs on the button. We were jigging the new X2 yum beaver tails in 7-9 fow fishing 3-6 foot deep. Orange/Chart was our best colors! We couldn't get bit shallow all day. EB
:DThanks for the welcome! I love the board and we love to catch Crappie and love Lake Eufaula! Here is pic of daughter #2 with a slightly smaller but nice crappie from last Sundays haul. Next time I'll make sure daughter #3 gets in on the action!
Good pictures, Kodak moments, nice fish also, keep up the good work on getting your daughters involved in fishing.
man....can you believe....it is just almost time!!!!!!....woo hoo......
We made a trip to our favorite lake in Ok:D We fished sat & sun with Barry Morrow. I had my two youngest sons out sat & had a great time. Then wife & I went sunday and had another great time & the bite seemed better. Our best bait was Lindy blk/chart hair jigs & org/chart beaver tail & a dance jig.... Good seeing you again EB. We caught over a 100 fish for the weekend.Thumbs Up
Talked to Barry Monday night and he had a 2 man limit for the day behind a nasty cold front that came through the night before into the morning. The wife and I are fishing with him middle of April, three nights at the Falls Inn BB, can't wait!
The Falls Inn is a great place to stay. The lady that runs the place is a great cook.
Caught a few yesterday around noon fishing down south of Crowder. Was surprised to catch a 12" female that was almost snow white. Very little color and I guess she had been in deep-cold water, took the jig (blue and white baby shad) at 10 feet.
Brought her home along with the others and was going to take a pic of her because she was so white, but oddly enough, she must have warmed up in the water coming home and wasn't white anymore...... got her natural colors back.
Anyone else ever seen this? Just curious.:)
yes, Crappie turn white when they stay out of sunlight but the longer they are exposed to sunlight the darker they get.
StinkFinger..you put in at Crowder or Rock Creek..didnt know about the water and gettin thru the cuts in the old hwy..hadn't fished down there yet this year but it should be heating up very quickly..got to make the drive soon..my parents used to own a lot at Arrowhead Estates but sold it several yrs back..used to fish the cove where all ya'll have your boat docks now before there was any on the southside..used to kill em in there doddle sockin jigs along the buck brush but that has been a few yrs back..and never saw another boat all day but im sure now its like 69 hwy..anyways let me know about the ramps down south..heard of anyone catching them at blocker bridge yet..heard about a month ago they were but since then its been a gar hole..just curious..
:)This board is great and there is a lot of valuable knowlege to absorb here. I have a question as a newbe: what are everyone's thoughts about the North vs. South end of the Big E for crappie fishing? I have a place on the far north end and sort of grew up there with my grandad who built a house there years ago. I actually have never fished or boated on the south end (which I guess I would say is south of HW9). Anyway, it seems like a lot of folks are discussing the south end and I was just wondering what the everyone's take was on the difference. Curiosity mainly... Thanks for any responses!!
I'd like to fish graves creek off 266 but not sure if it's navigable due to water levels. Anyone been at Graves creek or know if the water level will let a boat go downstream from the ramp ok?
Putting a boat on this lake now due to low water and obstacles that otherwise would be under the water is risky business. People using boats on this lake are using caution and driving slowly in areas they are unfamiliar with.
Although the lake has been slowly rising in the last two or three weeks, it is still almost 4 feet low. Large rocks, tree stumps, and other dangers lurk only inches beneath the water.
Many people find themselves at the boat repair shop getting an estimate on a lower unit replacement or new props. One little fishing trip right now can be really expensive unless you take it real easy and have some knowledge of the underwater terrain.
I wouldn't put in right now.
Sorry, I don't have any details on Grave's creek.
Ranger, I haven't seen anyone fishing Blocker bridge lately. I fished it about a month ago and didn't get a bite, haven't been back to fish, but cross it often when I go down to Massey Point.
I've had other people tell me the ramp area of Arrowhead Estates is a good place to doodle-sock and I may try it when the spawn kicks in. I fish from one of my buddy's dock really close to the ramp and have been catching them a few at a time.
Down in the cove south of the boat ramp, the water gets really shallow and crappie fishing has never been productive for me in this area. Sadly, this is the water that touches my lot and even though I am just a short walk down to the water, few if any crappie hang out down here.
I have to get in my truck and drive somewhere to catch crappie.
Thanks Stinkfinger
I'd have been on water by now but when I ionstalled a new downscan imaging unit, I left one wire off the battery terminal. Found out this morning that it was the onboard charger negative wire. Bummer, now I'm impatiently waiting on charger to get enough juice in the starter battery. I think I have enough to get through the day if I'm wrong I'll know somewhere during the day. hahaha......anyway I think I'll go back to Oologah if you think graves creek is too low to get around safely. I cant afford a lower unit and dont need to buy a new prop yet either. Like to keep it that way. Thanks for the update on water levels.
