Well finally got to go down to eufaula this past weekend and it was better than I expected. It started off real slow, by noon we (me and dad), only had 4 keepers. We soon moved to the other end of the lake and tried some clearer water. I located 4 different brush piles from 6-25 fow. The bigger fish 12-15" were in 7-8 ft. While the majority of fish were in 14 ft. We ended up having a great day and finished out the day with an awesome two man limit of slabs. Minnows dropshotting. Caught well over 100 fish from 1-7pm.
Great report Flip, Its funny how water clarity makes the fish pattern a little different! How many did ya'll end up keeping?
We took home 72 solid fish. Went to I 40 and gentry creek today never got a bite. I think I'll stick to the clearer h20
Yeah I live in Checotah and we are all the time trying to figure the fish out on the the north end! The only thing I can tell you is they love Pump/orange or Pink. Then make sure your baits are on the bottom, If it is 8ft fish 9ft. Here lately the fish have been good fish! I am a big water color guy, I love water that is 6 inch to a foot visibility. Don't feel bad though we are humbled up here quite often! EB
What EB said about the north end is for sure. When they are there and you are catching them, they are good fish. They are there one day, gone the next and where they go is a mystery.
Went out last Saturday for 3 or 4 hours, and caught 25 nice fish. We were fishing rip-rap in 5-8 fow with beaver-tails, pump-orange was the hot color. We had a couple of spider-riigging poles out with one jig pole our hand creeping down the rip-rap. The shad were so thick you could alomost walk on them.
Sunday we changed it up a little and went catfishing, I made two cast witht the shad net and caught a hundred or more shad. We ended up fishing for two hours and had two ice chest full of cats ranging fro 3-15lbs. We never caught a fish deeper than 3 ft. I had a good friend of mine and his 9 yr old boy with us, they had a blast catching those CATS! EB
Starting to get some days freed up, ready to do some crappie fishing! Got some open days the next few weekends! I will hopefully post some good reports! The late fall bite should be good in November! EB
Looking forward to doing to some guiding,I love the late fall and winter. The fish are fat and healthy! EB
Fished today from my friend's dock here at Arrowhead and caught a half a dozen over two hours. One nice keeper and the rest were returned to grow some more. Caught about that many last Tuesday and had two keepers. Not a real aggressive bite, but enough to land them if you're paying attention. Water is really clear........ more clear than I can remember in a long time. I used minnows on a crappie rig straight lining and had a good time on a beautiful Fall day.
We went out Sunday and I couldn't decide whether to go to Gibson or Eufaula. So the wind blowing 35 mph decided for me. So we ended up in the creek, the visibility was 2-3 inches (pretty murky) and we only had 4 keepers. Plus there were 50 boats fishing the lawter and pitts bass tournament hiding from the wind as well. So lots of boat traffic, we got a few more bites but all together a really tough day in the creek. We did manage a 1.11lber though! It was a nice fish! EB
I'm going try and get out this evening! I will post a report! EB
Guess this means you didn,t get on the water EB..lol..high north winds I do not blame you
I went yesterday, I fished some backwater creeks with a jig and cork and didn't do any good! Going this evening though! It's goin gto be nice! EB
where is that report.. looking to head down there tomorrow.
I was able to get out and fish Friday evening. I decided to go over by the the dam and try some clearer water. I was spider-rigging minnows 12-14 ft. fishing in 15-20 fow. I was fishing bluff banks and the best places were step drop offs. They were biting so fast I couldn't keep up, in fact I there were 4 times I had fish on both baits. I will be going back over there soon. EB
Sorry so late! Clock
No worries.. I ended up not being able to get down there this weekend.. but plan on doing it soon.. I am told they are getting frisky down there.
We are needing good reports for a change, this last year has been weird to say the least. Especially on the south end! So I went to fish some new water! It worked out pretty well, I don't mind getting out of my comfort zone from time to time! EB
Looking forward to the weekend! Rain, snow or sun shine I will be out fishing! I'm suppose to have a trip on Sunday! It's going to be COLD I hope he is a die hard crappie fisherman! I will post a report! EB
Went out this weekend and Saturday it rained and the wind blew pretty hard. I can handle the rain but not the rain and the wind at the same time. I caught 10 bass but no crappie, the wind made it tough for me to fish some places.
Sunday I caught 6 keepers and had several more smaller fish. Caught sevaral bass on brush in 15-22ft. Most of the bass were shallower than the crappie. The crappie were down around 14-16ft. I was spider-rigging minnows over ledges and brush. The fishing is slow right now but should get better. EB
Thanks for the report Brian, glad you're still going. I love the cooler weather, but this is just a little too cool for me.
I'm still hunting for them, I will be fishing Gibson Saturday and guiding Eufaula Sunday! I will post a report. I might get out with jig and cork either today or tommorrow. EB
I will be hitting the Molly Brown on Sunday as well.
I haven't heard any reports from the north end in awhile not even the marina! EB
I didn't go on Eufaula this last weekend but I should be able to get out this wek sometime! EB
Wasn't to bad at the Marina on Fountain head Sunday. we caught 6 overs and a boat load of dinks...mostly hitting minnows at 13FOW.
eufaula is good fishing right now, we just haven't found that hot area yet! Still looking though EB
I fished a private dock two days ago and then again this evening with no luck. Using jigs right now with crappie niblets and they're not hitting. Might try some minnows over the weekend. Water is really clear and I'm enjoying my attempts. Did catch one fairly nice bass this evening, but no crappie.............not even dinks.
found that the best time was from about 3:30pm to 6ish... minnows... deep.. depending on the sunshine and the wind.
Focused on three different areas this weekend using minnows: Crowder and the Blocker bridge area, and here at Arrowhead Estates and the results are the same, nothing. No bites, no nibbles, nothing. It was a nice weekend to get out and fish so there wasn't a loss, still had fun. Hope you guys are doing better elsewhere?
Fished from daylight until around 10am without a bite. Tried the culvert under highway 69 at Crowder on the West side. Hard for me to get up and down that hill along the tracks, but I've caught the fire out of them in the past and figured they might be commuting from one side to the other and gave er my best shot. I tried different depths all morning and they weren't hitting.........period. Another guy I recently met came down around 9am, he had been fishing on the other side with jigs and had only caught one small dink all morning. We both decided to giver up and I called it quits for the day. Rained a bit, but had my poncho so it really didn't matter. Just be glad when they start biting again. I'm down to my last three bags of frozen filets.
Jim give me a holler if you run out...got some to sapre thats forsure....Ranger
Went out yesterday afternoon from Crowder. Spider rigged minnows, but caught just as many on jigs, black/pink bt's and cajun cricket bg's. Brush in 14-18 fow. Took a while to find the right piles, spent more time spent searching than catching. We ended up with 10 keepers, 2 biggest were about 1.75 and 1.5 lbs.
Hello. I'm new to the site, and was wondering if there is some maps or other information that I could research to find some productive brushpiles or structure on Eufaula, or Ft. Gibson. I would like to get my kids on some good crappie, but I don't know that much about the "hotspots" on either lake. I only have them until Sunday, so being able to locate some good fish soon would be a big plus. Thank you for any info, it is greatly appreciated.
Yea Gary, take a look at the brushpile coordinates stickied at the top of the page. Hope this helps.
Thank you sir. I will take the kids out in the next couple of days, and hopefully I can post some good results.
Gary
By the way, thanks for helping the "Newby".
Got out today on a beautiful next-to-last-day of 2011.
Cleaned 20 good fish. North end, spider-rigged minnows on brush 11-15 fow. The 2 largest were a bit over 14". Fished from around 12 noon to 4:30. Not a stellar day, but just glad to get back out and on some fish.
Here is a picture of the largest 7 fish.
