Fished yesterday for around the pioneer cove area. Caught 15 straight lining with minnows in 8 to 14 ft of water. Females were still full of eggs. Water temp was 63 deg by yesterday evening. Water is super clear so I expect the fish to spawn deeper and the early morning and late evening bite be productive.

Went out around noon today and fished until 7pm. The crappie were there but in lock jaw for me and several other boats I talked to.
The males were in the middle of the coves, suspended. I'd see a ball of fish on shad, pick up a couple of small males on minnows, and that was it. Nothing near the bank.

I saw lots of moss clumps floating on the surface in the coves, so I'm thinking this warm weather is going to make the lake turn over.

Never seen Kaw as clear as it is south of Sarge creek. 7-8' visibility. Unheard of.

Brought home 3, 12-13" males and one sandy for the dinner table. Released all the rest.

Default 2015 Kaw Lake CRAPPIE Report

    Any good today?
The male crappie I cleaned yesterday had absolutely nothing in their stomachs.
The sandbass I cleaned that was caught around the Kaw city swim beach was Completely full of mature eggs.

Nice to meet you guys to. Hope you got to take to fish home. We got heavy rain in Kaw City last night over 3 1/2 inches. This is going to make it interesting. Hope to see you guys again.

We finally got on some fish in the coves north of Osage. Fished a little deeper brush. Between the two boats I think we ended up with 56. Was my first time on Kaw, sure appreciated the info you shared and yes would be nice to see you again too!

Fished mid lake today. Dead calm, WT 65 in the back of coves, 67 in the main lake.

Stopped at a gravel bar in the main lake, caught two females at 8', then the wind shifted to the north, and the rain came in sheets before getting back to the ramp.

The water was clear to 8' on a cloudy day. I've fished this area before it was officially a lake in 1976, and have never seen it this clear. My uncle owned the land the west side of the dam is located on, as well as the area below the dam.

Crazy. There should be some fresh water flowing in as we speak!
