Went yesterday, surface temp up to 54.3. Found fish on scan and sonar but couldn't buy a bite. Ended up with 5 +1 that flipped out of the boat. Caught all at 12-14ft in 17-20fow. All were caught spider rigging minnows and when the boat was barely moving( under .3). 5 of the 6 were in the last hour of the day.

heh, i was just getting ready to respond and you edited. I love turkey hunting, honestly just not had any excitement about it this year. Probably because I lost my best turkey spot. That, and I guess I'm just ate up with fishing right now.

Fished Kaw yesterday. Got on the water at 3:30 due to storm, left at 7:30. Caught 25 kept 12, all shallow. Jigs on a cork set at 20 inches, didnt really matter color or size. Fished all new coves due to my expected places muddied up with runoff. Mostly males, all black. The females I caught had dropped their eggs already, but I got the feeling that spawn was in full mode due to the males positions and behavior. The males are set up in water 3 to 5 feet deep on cover of any kind. Much deeper than you would find on Eufaula or Oolagah, but the water is clearer here. Didnt find any females staging off the spawning banks, but that was not surprising, the front had already gone through. Water was 67.5 to 69.

Fished friday, did well, kept 26 with 6 really good ones. Used various jigs and minnows and jigs tipped with minnows. They are done with the spawn for the most part. Have moved back to brush and timber 7-13 FOW. Used wasshoppers for the first time yesterday-- wow! Minnows were out fishing all the jigs I tried, till I tried a wasshopper. It was catching fish out of piles that I had thoroughly worked with the minnows, was very impressed. Wish I would have tried them earlier in the day. Most of the fish were not aggressive, you had to hold it there in front of them for a bit. Water is up 2.5 feet and off color a bit for Kaw, vis is about 18 inches most places. Water temp was 72 - 78 depending on the spot/time of day.

Hey Redge, what is your water color like down there? I might be heading down to your neck of the woods next week with the Big E up 6', Oologah 10', Gibson 12' and Wister 18'. Seems Kaw and maybe Tenkiller may be the only 2 major fisheries in decent shape.

Lightly stained from Cherokee up. On brush in 20-12', you have to wade thru a lot of dinks but there's some nice fish! Wouldn't recommend the weekend the pleasure boaters will drive you (or at least me) crazy! SB black shad and sunperch. Found a school tonight had to be 300 fish all about 5" the closest to automatic fishing you could get. Fishers if you need more info call me.
