One would think so, but the rains have basically stopped before getting into the Kansas Drainage. I haven't visited the upper part of the lake, but talking to a GW on the ramp today he said it was stained, but not muddy.

I used the trolling motor to cruise along the bank in lots of areas that had really nice gravel bars that should have shown signs of nests, but didn't see any fish or nests. 8' deep.

I'm not used to fishing clear water. In my thinking, they may spawn below that. I caught a couple of females at 8' over brush that was 12' or so, and have heard reports of the same from others.

Are they spawning at depth instead of coming to the bank? I don't know.
I'll be heading north after this rain.

Amazing how things change. I went across the Sarge Creek Bridge a couple of hours ago on a road trip for steak in Shidler. Muddy water on both sides.

Maybe that will get things started on the banks. Fishing report says they are excellent in 3-8 ft. Maybe I need to just go find out!

Yep the water temps are alot cooler at 8 ft where they are staying away from the sunlight,, havnt been on the lake since wednesday but coves still had some fish in them by coon creek, Im sure that area is now like choc milk, but doesnt mean you cant catch fish there. Hoping to get out this wee a couple of evenings, Just about time for me to switch to hybrid fishing and working on piles for a couple months.

So your already done with crappie spawn up there or you just really like hybrids?

Fished timbered cove south of Sarge creek ramp all afternoon and evening. Only had four small males to show for it. Couldn't find a pattern or many fish for that matter. Did manage to hook several twenty pound or so cats on jigs with a ten foot pole and in my tube. Pretty exciting till jig hooks straiten out. Big cats really seemed to be up in the newly flooded grasses and brush feeding.
This was my third trip up to the lake this spring with not much luck with the crappie, but it takes alot of time to learn a new body of water. Any help would be appreciated "hint hint"

Never say done with crappie!!! LOL But lets just say I will be glad when there patterns settle back down and until then them Hybrids can pass the time! Not to mention my new found hobby of catfishing, TC probably going to cost me more $$$$ But man what a blast it was to get the wife on the fish like that, and the young boy that was with us, If you could have seen the smiles on their faces! THE LOTTERY WOULDNT HAVE MADE THEM ANY HAPPIER!!!

like these! Pierce, the little man, was all over everything that day. If a fish smelled the bait, he wanted to reel it in!! He wanted a picture of every fish. His dad said everyone would think it was the repeat rubber fish like rdj Doug likes to use.

dstreet, Wister you were my hero, I can't believe you let TC drag you thru the slime and I was going to call and ask about the crappie bite up there.
