I took my wife out this morning for awhile and we caught probably 45 only kept 25 though, that's about all I want clean anymore. she was using minnows 1-2 foot deep and she caught plenty of males in the 1# to 1.50# range. I was using a BLK/chart.
jig just dipping into brush in 3' or 4' and caught probably 8. I also had really good luck with a BLK/chart. jig below a cork about a foot just jigging then set and they couldn't take it. We were up north around coon creek as well.

Went out last night up in the creeks. Only caught 10 but got a late start. 2 of them were big fat girls that came from 4ft of water around stumps I did get a chance to use my Timmy toms weedless jigs and we tossed and pitched them at shallow thick cover never having a problem one of getting hung. Definantly see these changing the way I fish. Water temp was 68,should do nothing but get better, Good luck.

Kaw Lake Crappie Report
These little cold fronts are killin us. Caught them shallow before this last front in the lake. Barometer looks better today. Tuff bite yesterday.

Kaw was TOUGH yesterday. I caught 3 fish crappie, 1 sandbass, and 16 blues. The blues were tiny. I could not find shad, on a 2 hour shad hunt. I did see minnow fisherman consistently catching fish from Washunga rip rap.They were anchored up, minnows hanging over the sides about 10 feet deep. The full day, several i talked to had 20-30 fish. So the fish were there, I just could not make it happen. So i went cat huntn. This fish my buddy caught, 2.4lbs. We weighed him in at the One Stop for their contest. He is in 2nd place.

Jeff and I fished last night, He tried the creeks in am with little luck and met me at Washunga after i got off work, we caught a few off of piles and did dome looking around,, then loaded up and back fished a cove with corks and bobbers, seen several males swimming up shallow and another fisherman there with minnows had several smaller males in his basket,, water temp had dropped to 62 if I remember correctly,, we caught several nice fish last week in 8ft of water around wood, but fish werent there or werent bitting yesterday.. Need the rain but seems like each front pushes them back, OKLAHOMA WEATHER!!!! Good Luck Everyone!

I've been going down there before they open the gates in the AM and getting some sand bass and the occasional crappie. Pretty slow.
Today, a guy was using cut shad and was really doing well on the Blues. On the small size though 2-4lbs.

I haven't been up there. In the last several years, they will hold water at Kaw and let downstream reservoirs go down first, then release. Thus if there is rain out west, then Salt Creek is running and they go up it. If Salt Creek isn't running too hard they may be there.

Thanks for the report Dstreet. Been wanting to fish Kaw this spring if and when they hit the banks so I appreciate any posts that keep me from making a long drive for dinks. Good luck.
