Tough day yesterday for us. Talk about weird bites, one fish would slam it, the next one would just tickle it. Didn't get anything going until the sun came out, but then it turned on for about an hour. Only had 5 over 10", biggest a shade over 12", and probably 20 8-9" fish. Only saw a handful of fish caught, probably 6-8 boats or so out on the upper end. I would have happily split the difference in the temp from yesterday vs the forecast for next weekend though! The wind had a little bite to it until that sun came out.

We fished all day Sat, and scanned some Sun am on deep piles, caught 14 fish all day sat, 17ft was our magic # for the day, didn't seem to matter what color, fish appeared to be scattered up and down the rip rap at washunga and sarge, but sure didn't seem active, picking up one decent fish per pile after setting on it for a while force feeding them!! wt was at 34 when we started, Probably could do better with minners but Im not that hard up.. Good Luck fellas,,

All comes down to preference. We like to fish jigs to but are not above using live bait when necessary. I know there's a lot of fellas that won't buy live bait and will use artificials 100% of the time. If I'm gonna go set in a boat in 30 deg weather, I'm gonna catch fish whether it's on live bait or jigs. Not to proud to use em.

Don't get me wrong. I admire you guys that can catch em consistently on jigs. Used to be the same way myself. I was setting anchored last week fishing 3 poles with double minnow rigs in 17 fow and a good friend of mine who is a great jig fisherman, anchored up right next to my boat and was fishing the same brush pile. We fished 3 hours and he had 9 keepers and I had a limit. I believe with the lake level and the water temp up and down so much it does have the fish scattered. I think when it levels off for awhile the fish will school up and jigs will be the ticket. Live bait is a headache but right now with the fish so scattered its seems to be the way to go. Can't wait for the jig bite. Tired of chasing down minnows

Be out there starting tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday look better but haven't been out since Thursday. Be in an older deep v tracker that looks like it's been drug down the road without a trailer. Longpoled to many lakes in the buck brush in Arkansas every year and it took it's toll. Hope to see you out there.

I can tell Ya, we worked our butts off for those 14 fish. We need a cash account for fuel. Saturday was tuff, cold, and fun!

Wednesday looks like a good day to get out. Rest of the week is booked up. I'll be in a deep V Tracker with a 75 Merc. Probably launch at Washunga late morning. Haven't fished that area in a long time. With the warmer weather, the water temp might be up a little there.

Pretty tough day today. Wind was west / northwest all day. Kaw is tough to fish with a west wind. Caught several smaller fish in 19 fow. Couldn't stay on the brush piles. The better fish were buried in em today.
