Boxer we fished all the way up to Choteau Bend. We had to go up river to get out of that south wind. You would catch them as long as you were on the right stuff! EB

Was able to get back on Gibson yesterday with my buddy Charlie and we found the bite was some off from the previous trip. We were able to get a limit for 2 and was off the water by 4pm. Our biggest 2 fish were 2.4 and 2.2 with 1 being a black and the other a white and to my surprise both were males. Those would of been some really beautiful males come April thats for sure not that they were not pretty in November. The only baits I fished today were Slab Bandits in Pearl/Truse and Baby Perch colors and they worked wonderfully and are tougher than nails. WT was 54 to 57 degrees.....Ranger

My youngest son and I ran into Ranger and Charlie last Tuesday and would have matched their numbers but I had to knock off early to save my marriage; it was my wife's birthday. As it was we kept 12 with the top 2 weighing 1:12 and 1:10. Normally our early bite is a solid peck or thump but that morning I caught 4 good blacks in 4 casts that, as Ranger once said, felt like a leaf was on the jig. We call those " hitchhikers" just to have a quick common reference to a bite that we all experience most times out. My 10 grandkids have been here the past few days and the bamboo condos I planted in my pond finally started producing some black crappie for them. Usually my pond crappie run consistently about 12 oz. but these were all smaller. I may have made my bushes too thick as I have since read that the larger fish appreciate wider spacing of the stalks. If you have an opinion on this I would love an excuse to leave them alone but if I need to I will pull em up and prune to a better habitat. I have transferred several big pigs to this pond and I would like to be able to drop in on them and say hi. Right now I can't figure out where they live. What do you think? Fewer bamboo stalks per bucket?

I was able to get out with my best friend and fish Saturday and Sunday! We kept 17 nice fish casting and dragging crappiepro and bobby garland baits Saturday. We kept 15 nice fish Spider rigging minnows Sunday. The fish were spread out a little bit last weekend you had to cover some water, they were not in every place we fished but seemed to be in spots deeper than 15ft. Lots of shad everywhere, sometimes I think they hard to catch because they dont have to work for any food, they just open there mouth and a shad swims in, lol, but I don't know. EB

Good report EB! I often wonder why there are zillions of shad and the crappy have an empty stomach when I clean them? Don't make much sense to me.

I have often wondered about those mostly empty stomachs too Redge. I read some time ago that fish will sometimes empty their stomachs when hooked- the theory being that they can fight harder on empty. Seems unlikely to me but I don't know much.

LOL...the fish I had been cleaning on Gibson I would say half have been plum full and explode when I slide a fillet knife thru their bellies..Shad as long as 4" in some of them also. EB and I caught some they other day that still had the tail of the shad sticking out of their gullets when we caught them......Ranger

I need a limit of good crappie. Went to Gibson week ago Saturday and got 3. They were good ones. I'm new at crappie. Winds are going to be blowing Saturday and I live in Bartlesville so may Truro go to big creek over at Oolagah and see if sand bass are there. Don't know if crappie would be there never tried and don't know where or how to fish for them
