Hey guys,
First off I want to start off by saying I am new to the thread. I grew up on tenkiller fishing with my grandpa but since he got to old to fish I have not been doing as much fishing as I'd like to. I recently just bought my first fishing boat and I would like some insight. The only crappie hole I know other then off my dock is off goat island. This maybe against code to ask but I look forward to getting on some fish this weekend.
Welcome to the forum. Look for brush, trees below the surface. If you have structure scan electronics it can help showing what cover is holding fish which is not. Water temp is colder there than other lakes because fit deep. Warmer water should hold some fish.

Pappa I had them fenced in but I think Ranger left the gate open! Seriously, the fish are in transition currently, IMHO,
stussi67 the area you mentioned is waning currently, Frank300 gave some good advice!! Last weekend we caught fish anywhere from 20 FOW to 60 FOW, so your just going to have to hunt them up, Last weekend the sand bass trolling people were all over the place, good thing was, they were all nice and courteous to me and each other it seemed.
Welcome to the Forum stussi67. Like Redge stated the crappie in killer are moving. In the past years it makes them very hard to pattern and catch during this transition period. My advice would be go and fish and concentrate on the upper end and lake points. Find trees and brush anywhere from 50' to 18'. Good Luck and let's us all know how you do......Ranger

Well it was a terrific day! Wind wasn't terrible and the sun was shining!! A few fish were willing to bite also. Water clear, even though we had 1" of rain. Fished Friday afternoon, tough bite. Saturday, tough bite but we managed. Big fish 1.98 caught by City Man. WT 60 in the afternoon.

Got to the lake with enough daylight for a little fishing. My cousin City Man went with me. Water temp 60, fish were selectively biting. Several fish over 1.6. up to almost 2#. Not a great pic, but I'll get a better photo with tomorrow's fish!!Attachment 158290
They still deep? I went over to Blue Mountain Lake tonight. Crappie are up shallow there. Today was really windy. My boat just mowed over all the buck brush. Once that died down the fishing was good but somehow my jigs got confused and kept catching the wrong species. Whole lotta catfish in that brush with the crappie.

Caught some big white bass trolling small sexy shad crank baits by the bridge where the lake meets the river the weekend before last. There were alot of folks doing it. Pretty fun and good eating. But no crappie. Lol
Fished Killer last friday, almost had our limit (crappie), just fished after work. Saturday and Sunday were to windy and I didn't want to fight it. Worked around the place getting ready for Easter weekend.
You should be able to literally fill the boat with the sand bass. Find the shad and then either troll, or just cast to the schools of sandy's. You will have to see the schools on your fish finder, as they are not breaking the surface. I would look from Cherokee up lake.
Last weekend water was getting warm, smaller male crappie had moved up to 20' or so.

Lil off topic ,,but hit tenkiller yesterday to catch smallmouth with a friend and literally could not get away from the sandbass ,,jerkbaits , red eye shads , A Rig, crankbaits,, didnt really seem to matter ,,,if we got hung up we would pull up closer to the bank and you could see them everywhere ,,water was clearer than i have ever seen it you could see the bottom in 12-15 fow ,, put in at Strayhorn and fished our way north
finally got out of the sandies about chicken creek and started catchin our target fish
Crazy do you know what the water temp was on that end if the lake ? Know what you mean on the sandbass !!

Senior Jigger and partner caught a limit of crappie yesterday somewhere on the upper end yesterday. He said the females were spewing eggs as lifted in boat. Most were caught in 10' to 16' piles casting cork and jig over them and letting the wind drift the corks and jigs over the wood. That's all I know about that lol......Ranger

Partner, had a nice visit!!! Was on lots of fish this weekend, but could only pic a few up here and there. Did catch a 5+ lb bass that had me excited for about 2 seconds, until I realized what it was.
Redge, you're a hard man to get excited if a 5+ lb bass only last 2 seconds! :)

Fished with clients Allen and Monty Barret today for a 1/2 day trip. We unloaded at 8am and fished till 12:15..we ended the day with 43 crappie and caught over 50 easily. Had several really nice fish and very few we had to measure to check for the 10" length limit. Technique was cast n drag over wood in 10' to 18' DOW with the tops only being at 5' to 7' deep. Slab Bandits was the bait of choice and between the 3 of us we only lost 1 bait all day..now that's what a guide likes..Glad Allen included me in the memory making with his Dad. 2 nicer guys you will not find.......RangerAttachment 160163
Yes sir, it was a great day to be on the water with you Ranger. Thank you for the cast and drag lessons. I learn something new today. I will tell you this. We marked a total of 7 brush piles today, but caught these fish on only 4 of them. I never thought you could catch 18 keepers off of ONE pile. Thanks Ranger. We'll do this again!
