I was on the lake Sunday as well. Didn't fish, just heard you could finally launch. Took the family around to play. Saw one HUGE tree sticking end up about 1' out of the water. So there is some trash out there, I didn't see anything else, but that one tree would have ruined any boaters day.
I checked in several brush piles. Everything I checked was still there. Looks like some others either know about them or own them, as a few of those piles are much bigger!! My thanks to you.
I have never seen this amount of baitfish on Tenkiller. Just balls of shade everywhere. Water temp was 90 everytime I stopped to look.
brosborough, Redge and I were commenting on how much shad is in the lake right now also (no wonder the bite is so tuff). Redge had trouble seeing some of his waypoints because of that, but he can smell them on Xiller. lol
rdjj71m, you live right by CG. you guys should hook up sometime and fish together. That is what this board is for, to meet new people and fishing partners!

Ledge - I just noticed that rjj was in Edmond and I would welcome that. I would also like to crawl in your boat for some finer points of r & r for blues on Kaw.

George, I think we talked a little when I was at Hugo for the Winter Camp. We will have to get together when this heat get out of here. I mainly fish for crappie, saugeye, and walleye.
That Ledge is one blues man, not to bad on crappie either.
I'm thinkin fall camp could be on Ledges boat. Just sayin...

I'm not scared to admit it. I've bought minnows 3 times this year by gawd. Haven't bought em in 4 years! Only other bait I'll use besides mine to fish with. Lol
I was there Saturday and Sunday. Bite is tuff. Didn't bring minnows Saturday. No keepers in the boat that day. Lot of short strikes like small bluegill or something.
Went back Sunday with minnows. Some of those short strikes finally became hookups but they are very small fish. I called in some help to Redge and even one of his honey holes only netted me 1 keeper. Wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't so stinking hot out!!
Hoping now with school in session, boat traffic will go down. Some things I've noticed the past weekend:
1.) Bring minnows. Those fish are feeding so heavy on shad they won't bite anything else I don't think. I was watching swarms of them down on the bottom at 20-23'. They would then come right to the surface, 5' mark actually. You'd see several small splashes around you. Then they go back down. I don't know what all fish are in these school but there are crappie cause I'm catching one here and there. But it's slow and for me, mandatory that I use minnows. I can't hook up without them.
B.) Park rangers are sitting at the boat launch in their car and checking boats. I'm guessing to make sure they have enough life jackets, maybe throw floatations, perhaps if you have beer? I dunno. They don't seem to check anyone leaving, just people putting in. And actually I only saw them checking the ski boats with college kids. Lol.
Yellow.) Pee before you get to the launch or hold it till you are out on the water. I'm guessing the floods wrecked the bathrooms at the boat ramps. Chicken creek is locked up and it smells like the entire thing back up into the outhouse. You don't even have to be all that close to smell it. They are bad!! I feel sorry for whoever has to clean this up. I'm thinking dig a new hole and move it. Just cover up the old one with 8 tons of dirt and 10 million of those little car air freshener pine trees. Bleh!!
i. I'm still seeing the occasional BIG log sticking straight up. About a foot out of the water. Keep your eyes peeled.
And and go watch Redge with all his electronics. It's so cool. I'm jealous. He has so many gadgets I think he used to work for NASA or something. More radar than I've ever seen. If he can't find the fish no one can. The good news is with all his gadgets he will never notice the GPS tracker I added. So don't tell him. Our secret. I'll upload his weekend fishing spots so we can all benefit!

Anyone know when caney ridge marina will be open again for fishing? Or any other good docks on tenkillet that are pay to play?
No idea, I would try to call flint ridge grocery and ask them. They seem to know what's going on around the lake. Very nice place to get gas and minnows also.
A friend of mine that lives there said the new owner was not going to open it for fishing anymore.
That's terrible when its open that's were I do all my crappie fishing. I live north of Tahlequah. Any ideas were I can find a good dock? Originally David the new manager said it would open around September but I guess the owner changed his mind. Wish I had the money to buy the place.
Back on the water this evening, after planting food plots and mowing the yard. Ran out of time, I wasn't late for smoked ribs!! LOL
Saw a huge mature bald eagle, right at quitting time, he was fishing for his dinner.
At least 5 throwbacks to every keeper.

I don't drink much beer anymore but I do like that Spotted Cow. I'm going to Wisconsin in Dec to pick up the pup - may have to bring some of that back.

Charlie drove around Tenkiller yesterday checking where we could unload for today. Sizemore Landing ramp on the point was the only ramp we discovered on the north end that was even close to being able to use. Even saying that you will need to bring a chainsaw and straps to move trees that had washed in during the flood. The water is muddy with a few inches of visibility even at Sizemore. I will say it's muddy all the way to the dam and the further south down the lake you go the worse the mud is. Above 82 bridge is fishable with about 1' vis. Carters Landing area the water looks pretty good and very fishable but no (none) access. Can't get within 1/2 mile of the ramp access due to wash ins. A lot of the ramp accesses are blocked off by barricades throughout the lake and park gates locked as well. Going to be a lot of cleanup needed before any of us can get to a ramp......better times ahead......Ranger

Fished 4 hours this morning, never caught a fish. If you get on the lake be careful, lots of mostly submerged huge trees that would ruin an old boys day! I wouldn't recommend running on plane in the dark currently!!
Will add Charlie fished Tenkiller Monday unloading at Petit North ramp which is now open. Headed up lake to find the clear water he had seen Friday. When he got to 82 bridge it was dirty again. When he got to Carters is was just as nasty. He said for Tenkiller water it was non fishable. Talked to some bass fisherman that said they had fished Carters area late the week before and it was clear there as well just as he had observed and didn't have a clue where athe muddy water came from. He did catch 4 nice crappie in the Pettit area after a full day of no catching. Just passing along a report from Mr Tenkiller hisself.........Ranger

I was out there last Friday. Water temp 50.4 Fished for 4 hours. I drum. They were 35-40 feet deep with lock jaw. Tons of shad everywhere. They will eat well!Quote:
