The good news is that anyone with $99 in their pocket and a job can now have a Ranger.

I hope you're right, but they aren't gonna sell em at the BPS stores, and a lot of the Ranger dealers don't use the same finance company that BPS uses.

I am going to be able to sell the glass boats both bass and saltwater rigs, but I think it'll take a little more than 99 bux down. Ranger Boats

That's what it's all about. BPSG wanted a big share of the upper end business. They didn't pay the BIG bucks to make a cheaper boat, they already own the lower end market. It's about expanding their presence in the upper end. They entered it with the Z9's, now they're moving up from there.

Funny this topic came up. I had a text message from my sister this morning on this exact topic. Why from my sister you ask. Well, she is a marketing director and assistant to the president of the company that used to own the Ranger/Triton/Stratus line. She goes to tons of different boat shops, sets up their marketing, makes deals with what they will sell etc.....

A few years ago, REC boat holdings bought several different companies. They owned everything from Glastron, Wellcraft, 4Winns, Ranger, Triton, Stratus, Bombardier, and Evinrude to name a few (the list was long). Platnium group was part of these boat holding companies. Many of them wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for these holding companies. The reason is the downturn in the economy several years ago took a major toll on the industry. Companies were drying up and the only way to stay in the market was to be owned by one company. As things got better, they started selling some of their holdings to different companies and people.

Bass pro wanted a step in the higher line market. Will they be sold in the Bass Pro Shops? Well.... according to the word I just got an hour ago.... pretty sure they will be. Will they be carried in Cabelas anymore? Pretty sure they won't be.

Bass Pro shops biggest hurdle will be convincing people that the quality will remain the same. It is obvious that people have already started name association with the Tracker line (see previous three pages). Yes, there are people that have them and love them, but lets face it, they don't have a great reputation with alot of folks. Again, this came directly from the source.. not my opinion but oninions from manufacturors within the industry.

They had about 10 yrs worth of problems. In 1990 tracker boats used a styrofoam insulation for about 5 years if you had a leak NO ONE could weld it. It have off a gas when heated and you would end up with a bigger hole. Yeah I know of 2 F and F boats out of 1000's that had a problem

I know several people around Cleveland that bought Tahoe ski boats and had structural damage from the factory. All but one had to hire an attorney to get anything done

All I am saying is bass pro boat line is on the entry level of boats. It like having a Chevy work truck and then jump up to a Cadillac Escalade with them acquiring ranger boats

Who owns Ranger is not an issue, congrats to the Bass Pro Shop group on an awesome move.
It would take a complete idiot to mess with the success Ranger has become known for over the years. Dont see quality going down at all but do see demand going up, BPS has great financing, whats wrong with that??
The challenge will come in being leaders in the glass boat world, coming up with something new and all, willing to bet the same folks that having been basically running things still are.
Was told a long time ago that a successful man or company has GOOD people in the rite places.
