Funny this topic came up. I had a text message from my sister this morning on this exact topic. Why from my sister you ask. Well, she is a marketing director and assistant to the president of the company that used to own the Ranger/Triton/Stratus line. She goes to tons of different boat shops, sets up their marketing, makes deals with what they will sell etc.....

A few years ago, REC boat holdings bought several different companies. They owned everything from Glastron, Wellcraft, 4Winns, Ranger, Triton, Stratus, Bombardier, and Evinrude to name a few (the list was long). Platnium group was part of these boat holding companies. Many of them wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for these holding companies. The reason is the downturn in the economy several years ago took a major toll on the industry. Companies were drying up and the only way to stay in the market was to be owned by one company. As things got better, they started selling some of their holdings to different companies and people.

Bass pro wanted a step in the higher line market. Will they be sold in the Bass Pro Shops? Well.... according to the word I just got an hour ago.... pretty sure they will be. Will they be carried in Cabelas anymore? Pretty sure they won't be.

Bass Pro shops biggest hurdle will be convincing people that the quality will remain the same. It is obvious that people have already started name association with the Tracker line (see previous three pages). Yes, there are people that have them and love them, but lets face it, they don't have a great reputation with alot of folks. Again, this came directly from the source.. not my opinion but oninions from manufacturors within the industry.
