I know you was truck mechanic. Did you ever run into freeze plugs popping out of the Rocker Shafts? Last time I lost 1 on each shaft . I then put in taller plugs , this time only lost1 on the rear shaft. I was thinking tacking them in with the Tig Welder.

Yes, I have seen that. Use to clean them real good and install new plug with the green bearing mount by Locktite. Bad part is getting that pourus housing clean enough. Don't see why tacking wouldn't keep it in. If you do that I would clean real good and put a thin coat of that grey silicone around the seam to keep it from leaking after you tack it. Let that stuff set up over night at least.

Thought of something else you might try if you have the room. Make a retainer to cover the hole for the plug, drill a couple of small holes and put in a couple of small sheet metal screws to hold the retainer. Wouldn't take much. Yes there is a chance it could crack if to hot. If not mistaken that is cast steel. But if I'm not mistake I believe they weld up those holes and remachine when they Recon them.

You gave me an idea CRAY. I could just drill through shaft and plug an put a cotter pin. Thank You will get on it this morning.

Well I didn't have the room I thought so I used a roll pin. No more worries.
