If you can get 7.3 ok would not buy a used 6.0. And just for reference where I used to work we had a ford dealership that did nothing but 250 and up Fords and was in and out of there every day. Saw all the things that can and will go wrong with them.

i've had a 7.3 ford, a 5.9 cummings, and am currently in a 6.6 duramax all of these were 1-ton dually trucks. i pull/haul heavy loads all the time and have a pipe rack that catches a lot of wind. i have always averaged about 15 mpg in all of them.

Also if you are talking new, all new trucks have added exhaust gas cleaner installed that filters out all the particles and every one in a while goes into a regen where it burns all that soot up and blows it out the exhaust.if for some reason it plugs up it won't be covered under warranty and costs several hundred to get cleaned the have also added Urea injection to exhaust system that requires you to buy that additive to add to a tank. Another added cost.
Prob. looking at 2007 or older (depending on price)

You better go back to an 04 at least if you are lookig at Ford. In that year range the 6.0 SUCKS and you most likely can find one cheap but watch out. 7.3 is a beast!!!!

well seeing that your wife wont let you take your boat to the lake cause the water so low were good on the ranger so wont be needing a diseal for that and if you cant take the boat then theirs noe reason to go camping i say stick with the car and save the money
