Maachuu.. I got two drift socks from academy for like $12 each. Easy to store in the boat. They would bring my 90 hp from 2.3 mph down to either 1.6 or 1.8 mph depending on which sock I through out. I got a small one and a medium sized one... Somedays I needed both when going with the wind.

To me, the difference between and Terrova with i-pilot and running your big motor is that I can fish solo and never have to worry about driving the boat. Set it and you can almost forget it. It will change the way you fish, for the better.

I agree the Terrova is a great trolling motor for pulling cranks and long lining jigs. I prefer to spider rig and jig fish structure though and I don't think its the right motor for that. If long lining/crank baiting was the way I spent most of my fishing hours I would make the switch.

Does'nt the Terrova come with the foot pedal so you don't always have use the remote when you want to spider rig or fish structure?

I know it depends on the boat and setup but I have trolled many a miles with my 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. I pull one drift sock and stay 1.7 to 2.0 mph depending on wind.

I 99% percent of the time use my ipilot setup but was wanting a back up if the batteries start to weaken and Im not ready to go home

Yes they have them for the smaller motors.
