You must run the engine at high rpm's to burn off any extra oil on the plugs. I don't know how many hours I have on a 4.5 johnson and on my big motor pulling crankbaits.

Same here. I've only pulled with ym big motor and never had any problems but I make sure to blow the soot out of it for about 10 to 15 minutes. Just run it wide open and clean it out
