Thanks for all the replies and encouragement. I realize the new one won't be as good as the original, but right now the original one is killing me. It hurts whether I'm walking, sitting, or sleeping. I am on my feet all day at work and there are days I don't think I'm gonna make it. So a new one has to be an improvement.

DP. Swamp People Liz has a gator hoist mounted in her gator boat. That would do it. I can make it remote controlled. Just stick ya head in the noose and push the remote lift button.![]()

Hey crappiewisdom,
My wife, is doing her recovery after total knee replacement, as we speak. She also had bone on bone, and has been "tuffing it out", for too many years! Well number one, it looks like you have confidence in your Dr, and have done your research.
Don't tell my wife, but she is NO spring chicken! LOL
She went in for surgery, approximately 90 minutes later, in recovery room.
In hospital for 3days having therapy and using continuous motion machine, and was walking day after surgery, with walker in hospital.
Returned home and continued in home therapy for two weeks, a walker for 1st week, going to cane the 2nd week. Used the cane occasionally for 2 more weeks more for outside than in.
She then went to a rehab clinic for 4 weeks at 3 times a week. Everyone we know of, stresses how important, the therapy and rehab sessions are, for your recovery!
I am totally amazed at how well she is doing! We go for walks everyday, she even went and did the shopping after 6 weeks .
Did she have pain, yes, but she handled it and is doing better everyday, and yes, we are going for a boat ride the later part of this week.
It will be 10 weeks tomorrow, I have been with her every step of the way!!
Good luck,
pescador

Here is a picture of the pull handle that I put on the boat dock where I fish. I hope you can see it good enough. I made the bar out of 1" steel pipe and bolted it to the boat dock. I also made a 8"x 8" square plywood box step that I fastened to the deck of my boat as a extra step to get in and out of boat. It's better to have the extra help getting in and out of the boat than to trip up and have to have a replacement or another replacement. Good luck with the new knee.

Be safe and good luck fishing

Well, I went in for my knee replacement this past Tuesday and came home Wednesday morning. The surgeon said that my old knee was "complete junk". Surgery took about an hour. Had my first therapy session this morning and it wasn't too bad. In fact, I am having less pain now, than I had with my old worn out knee. Can't bend it much or support all my weight on it yet, but the therapist said that will come in time and therapy. I put off doing this for a long time because of fear etc. But I was at the point of not being able to do much of anything because of the constant pain. I can tell already that this will be a game changer for me. If any of you need a knee replacement, but are putting it off, my advice would be to "git 'er done".
Glad your surgery went well.
My Dr. is saying both of mine are shot, especially my left but my right is more painful. 27 years of multi-level stairways in chemical plants and working on concrete while carrying too much weight did mine in. I'm in the process of dropping a considerable amount of weight before I'll have mine done.
I was pretty pumped up to have mine done until I lost a friend over the weekend after he had both his done at the same time in mid-April. He never took another step after the surgery. Complications took him.
My surgeon won't do both at once. Right now it's injections every 3 months that last about 2 weeks before it's back to Aleve and Lortab.
