Hey crappiewisdom,
My wife, is doing her recovery after total knee replacement, as we speak. She also had bone on bone, and has been "tuffing it out", for too many years! Well number one, it looks like you have confidence in your Dr, and have done your research.
Don't tell my wife, but she is NO spring chicken! LOL
She went in for surgery, approximately 90 minutes later, in recovery room.
In hospital for 3days having therapy and using continuous motion machine, and was walking day after surgery, with walker in hospital.
Returned home and continued in home therapy for two weeks, a walker for 1st week, going to cane the 2nd week. Used the cane occasionally for 2 more weeks more for outside than in.
She then went to a rehab clinic for 4 weeks at 3 times a week. Everyone we know of, stresses how important, the therapy and rehab sessions are, for your recovery!
I am totally amazed at how well she is doing! We go for walks everyday, she even went and did the shopping after 6 weeks .
Did she have pain, yes, but she handled it and is doing better everyday, and yes, we are going for a boat ride the later part of this week.
It will be 10 weeks tomorrow, I have been with her every step of the way!!
Good luck,
pescador
