I can't believe all these bowl games going on. I remember when the bowl games meant something like the Cotton Bowl where the best team in Texas played. Now it has become a Participation Trophy to play in a bowl, over 40 bowls I believe. Many teams with a barely 6-6 record. What takes the cake is Mississippi State playing in a "bowl" with a 5-6 record. Participation trophy to be sure. The commercialization is ridiculous, which I believe has caused this. Haven't a clue who plays in the Preparation H bowl.

Since I'm on the subject, LHSAA (Louisiana high school athletic association) has re-sorted the districts for the next couple of years. No big deal except when it comes to the playoffs. For some reason at that point, the schools are split - private and public. Us regular guys play as usual, and the private schools then become "division 1, division 2 schools, etc." who play their own brackets. Obviously, the brackets are small with several getting byes during the rounds. I guess another participation trophy.
