They're all in a hurry to get to the end of their lives without stopping to smell the roses along the way or catch a few fish.

I don't care for the time change. Now when I get home from work in the evening, it's dark outside. Folks on the country roads driving like idiots in the dark. I do drive the speed limit, nothing more. Slower if it's raining or fog. Some small cars follow so close behind me that their headlights I can't see in the rear view mirrors. That close, believe me. What's the hurry I wonder? I guess they're in a hurry to get home and turn on the television.

Reminds me of a time about six months ago. Driving along the same road going to Lowe's on a weekend morning. Saw a baby skunk on the road, about six to eight inches long. Just playing away by himself. I thought as cute as can be. Thought to myself, I'll pick him up and take care of him for a while, then release him. Hit the brakes as I always do when there's wildlife on the road. Some chick in a big SUV was tailgating me at the time. She swerved and clipped a mailbox. Guess she was in a hurry to get to Walmart.
Anyway, good thing I didn't get that baby skunk like I was telling Ann afterwards. I would have probably said to myself after he squirted me - I shouldn't have done that.

After dreading the fall time change my whole working career, I now find myself looking forward to it. My other affliction besides fishing is golf, and I play with a great group of Seniors. We play at 8:30 am and before the time changes it is really heavy dew and barely daylight until the time changes, then suns is up and course is drying off. (not withstanding the almost 30" of rain we have had over the last 30 days.) Reason we don't play later is that we have a large group, as many as 40 some days, and it is the only way the club can get us all off together without delaying other members.
I do work part time, but it is from 4 til 9 in the evening, so I don't care if it gets dark at 5 or 6 since I am inside anyway. Funny how that worked out, because I hated the fall time change for about 35 years.

It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

Tough commute for sure, you must work in the oil and gas business. Doing what you have to do for now. Almost had to do that myself a couple of years ago.

Bought myself a Christmas present. Jimmy Page autobiography by Jimmy Page:
This is excellent, will really enjoy it. Covers his early days with the Yardbirds, closing the 2008 Summer Olympics, and accepting the Lincoln Center arts award in 2012. Large book with heavy photographic paper, over 500 pages long. I know most of you fellas could care less (including Ann), but I like a lot. I'm pleased with myself.

Thanks Ray. I read a lot, not into the television. Mix it up. Finished up this month's Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Air and Space, Louisiana Sportsman, Scientific American, and many others. Re-read To Kill a Mockingbird the other day, really enjoyed it once again.

Have you read the prequel? Been so long since I read Mockingbird I would have to reread to appreciate the new one. I read detective novels which have very little redeeming value, but fun to read. Discovered Donald Westlake and read 3 of his so far this week.
On the more notable scene one of my favorites is John Steinbeck. Reread "Travels with Charley' a while back. If you have not read it, I highly recommend it.
