Won't be this spring too busy getting boats ready. Maybe next spring.
Well my two cents. I agree with everyone else on the lack of numbers in Grenada this past year.
While at the Grizzly Jig expo I heard Ronnie Capps explain how Grenada has turned into a Trophy Lake. He also mentioned the record being broken at both of the CM tournaments in Grenada this year. He thanked MDWFP for their efforts and hoped they continue to go in the current direction.
Can you have a Trophy Lake and a quantity lake all in one.?
We have all been talking about how bad it is Grenada. It would be nice to hear of ways to get the numbers back up and continue to be a Trophy Lake as well.
Ccc. You just opened up pandoras box here.... Gonna be a hot storm now...leave it up to a few here and they will have parts of it roped off the 1st Tuesday through 5th Saturday of each month during the spawning season. Oh and we will all have to single pole....

Spawn plain and simple, Grenada actually needs some serious structure in it at low water levels, say around 200 where it is now. There are 2 problems with this tho, 1) its almost impossible to put it there where it will stay for years, the waves when it low will move almost anything. 2) Four-wheeler riders like to build fires to drink and warm by when the water falls, they pull up stake beds and anything else they can use in a fire. Grenada needs a habitate day on the WHOLE lake each instead of just an area but there just aint enuff help to make this happen.

CL, At the Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources meeting in Jan. the deer heard problem was topic number one. A reporter on Channel 3 the nite before had reported the poaching number was as high as the state reported take. They were interviewing a local guy that was on the warpath about poaching. At the meeting I asked the board if this was right. One of the board members is a retired CPO and he said this is in fact true and the dept knows this and sets the annual harvest accordingly. The Illinois Bow hunting Society member and the United Bow hunting member confirmed the fact. The reporter from Channel 3 reported she got her information directly from IDNR. This conversation was in response to a question about re-opening the check stations to stop the rampant poaching. If you have any questions feel free to pm me and I will be glad to talk about this or any other outdoor related activity. I am on the Board and a Life member of IFOR.
