Now that you mention it, I'd rather bring oil because I don't have to worry about keeping it cool or fresh ... what's a good oil and how much do you use? 5-10 gallons? 20? 30? Canola? Peanut? Vegetable? IDK, just throw me some numbers & type, I got memberships at the bulk food warehouses so the cost should be within reason.

I don't know that it makes a great deal of diff. Peanut is the most expensive, but Canola is good too. Unless somebody else has a preference. I think that 10 gals. should be plenty for fish and fries. Carol will most likely do the puppies in a smaller pan.

Ok, I know the turkey frying guys recommend the peanut, so I'll do some asking around and come up with either 10 gallons of peanut or the canola.

I was walking to Kevin last night and he said he thinks we need 2 gallons so 3 would probably be plenty.

Thanks John. I did see either 3 or 5 gal. "shore lunch" brand at Menards when I got the breading mixes. Seemed like it was a blend of peanut/canola for somewhere around $28.

Ok, thanks for the input, I'll hunt up one or two five-gallon jugs of peanut/canola so that way any excess can be kept for later dates ... I got a GFS restaurant supply store, Costco, Sam's real close and my son is a chef at a japanese steak house/sushi bar, so I should be able to find a good quantity of good quality oil somewhere for pretty reasonable and around $28 sounds like a fair deal to me.

So everyone knows where we are at concerning Waffle Farm CG, I wanted to post my tho'ts. Since the small pavillion will be holding a bday party on that Sat., we don't want to interfere or be in competition with them. I think that sites 139-145 would be the best bet. They all have elec./water, and those are pull throughs. I noticed a lot people had trailers set in various ways on the sites, so I don't think they are too finicky on how we set up. There is a large grass area backed up by a corn field across the road from those sites so boats, etc. can be parked there and we can setup however we want.

Those who are going to reserve sites should tell them you are with the Michigan Crappie Dot Com (MICDC) group for that weekend. The rules say "one sleeping unit" per site, but I saw tents on sites w/ trailers, so not sure that is going to be biggy after Labor Day. If I've forgot something, just post a question and I'll do my best to answer or get an answer for ya. Thx.

    YD
