The destination and dates are finalized for this falls SlabFest:
Dates are 09/07-09/09 (Fri.-Sun.) The event will be held at Waffle Farms Campground on The Coldwater chain of lakes in Branch Co. As usual we will officially start Fri. eve. with "Liars Club" around the campfire at one of the member sites. Sat. morning we hold the "friendly tournament" with weigh in afterward followed by a fish fry and games. Sun. is a free day to do with as you like.
Here's the link to Waffle Farms: Waffle Farm Campgrounds - Camping At Its Best | Coldwater, MI 49036
I contacted them and discussed our group holding the event at their facility. They have group campsites so we can all set up together. They said they will have plenty of sites in those areas for that weekend. They have pavillions, boat launch, fish cleaning station, etc. The rate for off lake sites is $30/day w/ electric and water. There is a one time watercraft fee of $5 which covers use of the boat launch.
Carol and I are going down there in two weeks for a long weekend to check things out so I'll have more info. on which group sites we want. I'll post a report on this thread afterward.

It was never determined that Hamlin was the destination. There were four diff lakes in various parts of the state that were under consideration. The "core group" chose Coldwater chain of lakes.

We can start a head count for those of you who know already that you plan to attend so we can do some food and supply planning.![]()

I will be there.
I can bring solo cups, plates, plastic silverware and some chips.
If any of you good fishermen happen to be fishing the south end of GRAIG LAKE and hook up a small pair of horn rim eye glasses let me know. I was pulling hard on the starter rope of my daddy's 3 hp Johnson Seahorse and my glasses flipped overboard. That was back in 1953 but I'm sure they're still down there.![]()

Wow! Wouldn't that be a find.

YD... Thanks for the info. I am thinking of taking a trip to this lake and see how things go. I thought I could swing a northern michigan camping weekend, but being as the 5th wheel is up in Ludington right now, camping might be out of the question for the Fall outing... However, that doesn't mean I won't be at the outing for a day of fun and fishing/meeting all the other crappie addicts out there. I might put together a trip this weekend. Now, if only I can find a partner!
