I am hopeful they can have a decent spawn and fishing improves yet this spring. Based on the size of the 9 to 9.75 inch fish I caught, next year should be a good year providing a normal weather pattern.

.... we ain't had a "normal" weather pattern in decades !!

If you plan on fishing Taylorsville much ... do yourself a favor and when the bite slows/stops, spend the rest of your time scanning the banks for brushpiles, stump beds, downed trees, sharp drops, etc. and mark them. Check them out next year, and delete the ones that got flooded away and add any new ones that you find. The spawn is a short-lived affair, but the wood cover will hold them most of the rest of the year (at least until the Sun shines over top of them ... then it's time to run cranks or jigs, or do more scouting).

Most all our lake's fish are "late" as far as the spawn is concerned ... due to late season cold weather & high water.

Now, as far as that particular egg sac is concerned --- I'm not sure about what it's telling us, as I've never seen "reddish colored" eggs before. Most are usually a dusty yellow to a bright gold color (orange/yellow) and when they're ready to drop the egg sac is very mushy soft & the sac is more rounded (not like the firm cone shaped sac shown in the picture).
