As late is it is in the year, I don't know if they have already been to the bank or yet to go. Fish I cleaned had eggs but far from being ready to lay. Don't understand why they are in 20 ft of water and 10 feet deep.

this question might be stupid but does that mean spider rigging will be over, if they go shallow i'm just getting the hang of this lol

QT ... I'm thinking the high water, quick drawdown & cold temps thru April have kept some of them from developing their eggs to maturity at the normal rate. Some of the pics I've seen on the site, showing eggs of different colors, has me thinking that Taylorsville isn't the only lake where this is happening.
I didn't hang around the fish cleaners at the Fling to see ... but have been told that Green has fish with varying egg sac colors, as well. Even there, we had people catching them in <5fow & out in 20-30fow.
Now, I have caught Crappie at Taylorsville in May & spawning 8ft deep, in the past. So there's still hope for these fish to get off at least a partial spawn, if the weather turns hot & stays there. But, if the temps moderate down to warm (for daily highs) for a week, then they may still get off a decent spawn.![]()
It might be "over" for a short period of time, but once they finish with the spawning routine ... you may still have opportunities to Spider Rig for them. IMHO
But, personally speaking, I'd be more inclined to cast the shaded banks ... over brushpiles or deadfalls ... from daylight until midday, then again later in the afternoon (after 3PM). Sometimes they can be on the shaded side of standing timber during the midday hours, too.
My personal opinion and experience is crappie can be caught year round spider rigging. However, I think the spawn presents a time when other techniques such as casting a jig are more efficient.
eggs were all same color and texture i don't know any thing about it but they seem the same just some had more than others
