Unhappy My son's last spring crappie trip for a while.

We've been coming down during his spring break since he was 11 or 12. He starts college this fall, so it will be several years before we can make it during the "prime" season again.

I had been hoping for a good week, but the weather and lake level seem to be conspiring to make the fishing tough.

Gonna be a rough time for old Dad when we head for home

Dang straight. Seems like yesterday I held him for the first time in the hospital and my wife laughed when I started talking to him about going fishing. Now he's taller than me. Just got him trained up to launch and load.

The most wonderful part of this is he has probably learned so much from you during your trips (not only fishing) that will help to mold him as a man. Bet he will have the desire to do the same for his youngins someday. Probably ask for your guidence then as well! One thing I lerned as mine left the house, they still want to come home and do things with you that they did growing up. Fishing, camping, hunting, golf, whatever! Best of luck on your trip and to your boy in college!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

i am the other side of this conversation....my mom would take me to the pond behind the house when us kids were home from school....now that we fast forward 30 yrs, it is me taking them fishing again....it's funny to watch them watch me and learn all they can from me.....i do not have kids of my own and to see them catch the fish makes me the happiest...we are coming down in april and as i've said before...i don't really care if i catch "the big one" as long as they do...my father was always more interested in hot rods until i took him to kentucky lake...he still talks about that trip and is pumped to be going back...so as a "son" i can say that being with your parents in a boat...on the lake..is something i will always treasure...best of luck to you and to your son in his journey to college....ps: save us a couple crappie???? lol

That's funny as heck! That's exactly the same conversation I had with mine when he was born! :D

Depending on the year, college spring break may be about as good as it gets around here.

    You never know.

We might be at war with mama if I try to run off for him very long when he's home.

Just tell her that he could either be at Kentucky Lake with you or on Panama City Beach.

    Let her choose. :D
