Shane, do you also support The State of Kansas coming up with a plan to Have a State run Guide association fee schedule? Most other States DNR charge for the privledge of being a Guide, and some of them are quite expensive for the required licensing and Insurance. Not trying to throw a dart your way, just trying to show that there are other options to raise money if we are in such dire straits. I don't think we are in that shape yet and I am opposed to what I just asked you. However should commercial fishermen get the same ride as the ordinary sportsman and should they get a free pass on special fees to make money off everyones resource while not paying extra to make money from the resource?

I don't understand why they allow anyone to be a Guide without paying dues. Never understood this. I do carry Guide Insurance on top of my boat insurance. If you run a guide business, you should pay and I will stand behind this 100%.

I do think the vets and kids should fish for free!

What exactly are you crying about? is it because a retired individual should be "Entitled" to a free liscense? ot is it because you don't know exactly where the money is going?

I do agree about the vets and kids for free. I am not a vet, but I do support the people that serve or served this country. Thanks for doing so!!

    ...I'm a Vet..will be 65 the 28th....And Kathy my wife says "I'll never grow up..Will also be a kid":p.
And I love fishing..Once I retire and on a fixed (low) income..anything will help.
Heck the PP tax on a boat is out of site...
And -- The price of gas../..bait..It's not hard to dump $50 to $100 on a day of fishing at a local Lake.

Shane you take a very commendable stance. Dan, i didn't think I was crying. I was simply staing another side. Is it crying to expect our government to live up to their word? Is it crying to ask for transparency and accountability instead of lining up to drink the kool aid and throwing money at someone casue they say it's so without showing the numbers? Is it crying that i'm disgusted with the powers that be to bring the Tourism department into the fold when they had already said in the past that the KDWP was being stretched to the limits? Lets see some real numbers and then we can move on from there. You talk of us being left wing and crying but you are willing to accept the facts as stated by those wanting to relieve you of your money, maybe money comes easy to you, for most folks it doesn't, it comes with a price, so maybe you are one of the fortunate few who doesn't pay that price. We are friends so we both knwo thats not true. I'm not sking for anymore of an entitlement for a free license at 65 than you are asking for an entitlement for those people to support your wishes. I believe the promise was made about 65 and i think it should stand. Nowhere have I seen a promise that those of us still actively buying a license for the price not to go up. So if they can prove they need more money and just how much by the numbers I will pay that price to help keep our promise.

It's pretty obvious KDWP needs an influx of money, the costs of everything are going up, plus we have these dang ANS things that are costing money. it only makes sense that the costs of our fishing will go up. I get the fact that those retired folks were always figuring on getting a free liscense at 65 but that fact of the matter is that that generation has the highest participation rate(I know mine and younger is squat in comparison) so as they all hit 65 the money influx is rapidly declining. I would be all for a reduced lifetime liscense rate for those that didn't buy a lifetime liscense at say age 62, at a cost of say $75, but I don't get to make the rules and unfortunately If I did get to make them SOMEONE would still be upset. You mentioned the Masses supporting the few? but as I see it that is actually backwards to how it really is. I also think the pleasure boaters should have some sort of an annual usage fee to ski, tube or whatever it is they do, they use the ramps and facilities as much as fisherfolks, so why can't they pay a bit more to use them too?

You bet we are friends, just look at things differently.

ANother thing, I think anyone that buys a annual day use permit should have to provide proof their boat is registered in KS. to get the current rate, If it's registered out of state they should have to pay 4 times the current rate, that would bring some extra money in and shouldn't hurt the out of state registered boaters since they aren't paying any KS. property taxes on their boat!

Exemptions: NO, what about police officers, deputies, firefighters all of which already receive veterans preference for these jobs.

Leftist, hardly so, actually they're pretty right by definition, but what do I know. Many of our senior or soon to be I'm sure contemplated buying a Lifetime but with the "standard" of the time discounted purchasing it, a form of retirement planning. If this does go through the lifetime sales will increase for sure, thats just a given. Now my "foresight" on this is, when everybody has a lifetime and gov't once again squanders the money, instead of letting interest accrue, and then says if you have a lifetime now you need to purchase a permit to fish for crappie, or walleye and so on. It's already in play with the trout program. The state has raised and lowered fees on various programs trying to relieve it's overwhelming burdens. The truth is some people who used these entities 1 or 5 times a season have left because they feel its just not worth it. In a leftist reality we are just now discovering how bad we needed those people. Park usage has plummeted, sure it's better than ever, but those socially less desirable campers (partiers) quit going to stay out of trouble. So who needs who now. Sure some is gas expenses, and park permits prices from a few years back, water quality (probably #1 currently) and on. Once your liberty's are surrendered, history proves they don't come back
