Welcome aboard from NC.
Yo BASSERBEN, keep on workin' on getting that kayak. Haven't fished your area,
but family members have and they are big into kayak fishin' just like me. I got
more than I can fish here close to home. Did all my travelin' and fishin' at a
much younger age. Your gonna be glad you got a kayak when you catch some
good fish from it. I like the portability and handiness of a kayak. Tight lines to ya.

Hello everyone, my name is Derek Clarkson originally from Cabot Arkansas and now a full time student at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. I'm 22 years old and I'm trying to learn everything physically possible about Crappie. I almost feel as if I'm addicted. This site was very helpful while building and using my new spider rig last year which helped to produce fish much further than expected into the summer. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for the information. Hopefully there will be plenty of pictures and comments to come.
Welcome aboard Derek. Good luck in your fishing and your studies.
Hello hello one and all, this is gonna be good. already looked through some killer pictures, and read kind words, good to see a forum of decent people! Goin the the lake soon, report to follow! I'll probably be known as Chiptooth, if i can figure out how and if i can change my handle...
Hello everyone, name is dustin i live in westfield indiana very close to morse reservoir... Im not new to fishing as i am an avid bass fisherman, but i have never targeted crappie. But i heard they are good eating so i would like to get into it, any pointers on morse reservoir?
Hey from Alabama.
Hello all. I moved to Little Rock last year and bought my first boat this year. Looking forward to some great crappie fishing in the Natural State. I'm taking my girlfriend to Harris Brake Lake tomorrow. Any suggestions on bait, depth, or anything else would be appreciated.
One other question, and this is kinda a dumb one. Do crappie really "take the bait" when they hit or do they kinda nibble around the bait? I know that bream really get after it sometimes and I'm yet to catch my first crappie.
Thanks for creating a friendly site about crappie!
thank you looking for info on cold water fishing water temp to day is47 to 48.5 not have luck some pech no crappie
thanks for some help ps the bite will start in a week or two i hope
Hey from Alabama.
are they any members from Astor, Florida??
Hello everyone, I just joined the forum and have already learned a lot. I'm from North Carolina and fish local likes such as High Rock, Lake Norman, Tuckertown, & Badin. I grew up cane pole crappie fishing with my grandfather and family...a lot of good memories. As I got into my 20's & 30's I got very involved in tournament bass fishing as well as taking my kids crappie fishing as they were growing up. My kids are now in their teens and I have came full circle back to crappie fishing and my son is right there with me. There's just something about the simplicity of kicking back with a cork & minnow or getting more serious and breaking out the slingshot on piers. Anyway, I'm sure I will enjoy this forum and look forward to learning new methods to catch more slabs.
just wanted to say ,enjoy this site, and the boat pic r nice.dont know how to post my pic but will get the wife on it.
Hello fellow crappie anglers. I am from Northeast Indiana. Have been "creeping" the site now for a few months. I finally decided to join a few weeks ago. I finally decided to join because of you guys. On some fourms, the people on them can be a bunch of (insert bad word of you chioce). But, that isn't the case here on CDC. Everyone seems to be so willing to share information regarding crappie fishing. That being said, I have fished all my life. First, with my late father and gradfather, mostly bluegill and catfish. Later in life, I took up bass fishing and I got burned out on that, have fishing local tournments for several years. Then, about four years ago, I got in to a mess of crappie and I was me that was hooked. I love all things crappie. I love the fact that they can be picky, that they may or may not be holding to heavy cover, everything. That is another reason that I really like this site, it seemes to be a text book crappie fishing. I look forward to sharing stories and information with like minded anglers. I wish the best for all of you.
Howdy all. Just joined up and looking forward to enjoying the site. I'm a Crappie chaser from way back. Life took me from it 10 or 12 years ago though. Now,I find myself with a daughter that loves to fish! So,here we go. The last boat I owned was a Smokercraft Pro Angler. Nice rig it was. Seems I'm in need of another "Crappie Craft". Oh we've been bank fishing. It's hard to sit there and watch all the boaters heading out while bank bound. I tried to put it off,but quite simply we need to get back out there. My wife picked up a couple slabs yesterday. She was as pumped up as I was,and my daughter was worse. I have 2 girls in fact. One is a pretty darn good shot and deer hunter. The other has angling in her blood. Stream trout fishing has been good to her,but boating is her dream. My brother-in-law just picked up a new Lund and it's a real sweetheart. That did it. So it is writen,so it shall be done. By next spawn I'll be back with bells on. Or at least jigs on. He and I used to hit the Crappie hard. He's moved on to Walleye and the bigger craft for the big water, but I'm itching to hit those slabs again. So glad I stumbled onto this forum. It may tide me over while I get rigged up again,Mindog.
I'm a Newbie...Got to get rid of the GUPPY. Great site! Caught one last week that still had eggs. A late bloomer I guess.
I started fishing in 2007 and I really enjoy fishing for crappie and blue gill. I have a 2007 tracker pro crappie 175 that I do most of my fishing in. I'm still kind of new to the fishing sport and would like to get some pointers and tips on how to more efficiently catch fish.
welcom to CDC . Florida has some good crappie fishermen . met a few at www.laketalquinodge . nice lake not much heavy play traffic .several from the Ga. bord fish there .
Hello, I'm Fisherfore and i am a newbie. I joined Crappie.com to learn new fishing stuff and get info on lakes in the NC/SC area.

Welcome from GEORGIA to all the newbies.
Hi all Gary from Springfield Ohio
First let me say hey to all of you, I'm really enjoying searching and reading the forum threads, I'm getting lots of info from them and will soon feel better about getting into the mix. but I am a newbie, and have tried a few times since signing up to change my member name/screen name. I have lost my password a time or two and requested and changed it, and I now know that when I find a good avatar I will be able to set it up but would someone please direct me to an instruction on how to change ones screen name or what we used to call a handle? Thanks in advance. Wannabe speckslayer57
I am a new member of your forum and look forward to talk crappie fishing. My name is Ken McBroom and I am an outdoor writer and love to crappie fish. I grew up in Tennessee fishing Kentucky lake and Barkley and there is nothing like relaxing by a brush pile catching slabs all day long and almost better than that was when we got home and had them for dinner. Fishing is my life and so many people could benefit from fishing if they only knew about it so I try to teach people how to enjoy fishing much like your forum here. Thanks for this great site where we can talk fishing with people who want to talk fishing.
Thanks Ken

Hello everyone,
My name is Mike, I am a bassfisherman first, but I learned how to fish fishing for crappie, and I am going back to my roots.
I caught a nice crappie approx 14" this summer in my backyard, so I know there are decent ones in there, and I want to see if I have numbers as well as some slabs.
Hope to learn how to catch these elusive fish using artificials as that is almost all I use.
Thanks!
Mike A!
