I went thru something similar with myLlowrance 102c. Had to have a new display.
Lowrance informed me that the units, if left on a covered boat or in an hot garage, etc., the temperature will exceed the maximum specified for the display.
However, Lowrance sent me a replacement unit. Nice of them. My unit was 5 years old. A little out of warranty. Made me happy.
This seems to be a common problem with the Lowrance units.
I just purchased a Lowrance lcx27. I take it off the boat and keep it inside the house.

I have it on my trolling motor so it's not a problem for me. I just leave it on until i'm done fishing for the day. It doesn't drain the battery so it's no problem. Only paid $100. for it.
