    Default Eagle Problem

I have an Eagle Fish Mark 500c that is acting up. When I first connect the unit it works fine, until I shut it off. When I turn the power off, the unit will suddenly turn itself back on, the display screen will be flashing and it will continuosly beep. The only way to stop this is to unplug it. It then must remain unplugged for at least 15 minutes before I can plug it back in to get it to work properly again, but when I turn it off it goes through this problem again. I have this unit connected to my MK powerdrive AP/CP/US2. I tried a hard reset according to the Eagle website. This did not work. All my connections are tight.
    Anyone have any advice?

I went thru something similar with myLlowrance 102c. Had to have a new display.

Lowrance informed me that the units, if left on a covered boat or in an hot garage, etc., the temperature will exceed the maximum specified for the display.

However, Lowrance sent me a replacement unit. Nice of them. My unit was 5 years old. A little out of warranty. Made me happy.

This seems to be a common problem with the Lowrance units.

I just purchased a Lowrance lcx27. I take it off the boat and keep it inside the house.

CP - How long did it take for them to replace your Lowrance?
My Eagle is 2 years old. I have been keeping it in the garage, which does get hot in the summer. I just finished checking my wiring. The connections at the battery are corroded so I am wondering if that might have something to do with it. I think I will replace the terminals to see what happens. Does this make sense?

Similar problem with my 320C. Works flawlessly until you try to turn it off. It just comes back on. I have it on my trolling motor so it's not a problem for me. I just leave it on until i'm done fishing for the day. It doesn't drain the battery so it's no problem. Only paid $100. for it.

Not to insult anyones intelligence but are you turning the unit off properly? On the Fishmark 500 you must press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn the unut off. On the 320 I believe you have to hold the menu button in for 5 seconds.

About 3 weeks. I sent mine in and they called me to tell me it was the display and that they would replace it at no cost. Thas is when they told me about the heat problem.

I would definitely fix the corrosion. Clean it good and used some conductive grease on the connections. This will control the corrosion. You can get bulb grease at Auto Zone or NAPA or Advance Auto.

Wonder if they (Lowrance) been reading my HB posts here? haha

Every bit of information is helpful to work thru this problem. No insult to me. But to answer your question, yes, i have been turning it off properly. The problem started only a month ago.
I also hav e a 320c that has the same connections. I just thought of this. I will plug the 320c in where I normally have the 500c. If it is an electrical problem due to the corrosion, shouldn't the same problem then occur with the 320c?

That would be a good test.

I changed all the corroded connections to the battery. So far the problem seems to have gone away. I hope that's all it was and don't have to send the depth finder in for repair.

Having the same problem with my 102C. Guess I have to send my unit in for repair. Mine certainly gets hot when fishing in the sun.
