To share the transducer from the bow to a different location, it would require a physical switch......Humminbird does make one, I would have to do a little research to find it........Having a separate transducer on the stern would be the way I would do it if I were going to move a unit between locations. The 859 has an internal GPS, so the GPS is not necessary.

I think most people get tired of moving a unit around, and there is the expense of extra power cables, transducers, etc.......It is possible to move the 859 between 2 locations, but I don't think I would do it.

Hope I haven't completely confused you ......but there are several variables here depending on whether you end up doing the Ipilot link or not.
Makes good sense to me! I was basically trying to figure out how to get by with TM transducer for both location cause I have two transducer on stern already for HDS lss1 & sonar. Hate to drill anymore.

Do they make a extension cable for bird TM transducer I could run to stern? Guess I'd have to have Ethernet cord from ulterra to stern also to plug to bird for i pilot link to work? Then later if I had another bird I wouldn't need transducer cable to stern just Ethernet cord correct?

Will running two sonar one on stern and one on bow affect each other? Or could I run one sonar on each end?

Also I'm going I pilot link so I have it all to learn. I know easiest thing is to buy two units just gonna be awhile since buying ulterra also want one of the units to be a 1159.
5k in electros! Ulterra/ hummingbird setup?
