I should have realized you were thinking there was an in and out on the 859......It would be nice if you could "daisy chain" the Ethernet...But I don't think I have ever seen a computer or other Ethernet device that could do that.....If you have ever set up a home network, you have to have a common hub....either wired or wireless.

The other thing I would consider is making your stern unit a SI unit.....I wouldn't have a boat that wasn't set up with a LEAST on SI unit.

Yeah I have the HDS 10 at console with structure scan.

Looking at 5 port looks like the ticket!

After further reading I've learned more about waypoints and following contours. Thought I would just use stow and deploy and I pilot only. The more i read the more i like link. With this much money spent I want my console unit to be a bird for putting waypoints on other units. Be nice to pull up close to waypoint hit button trolling motor deploy and take you to it. Idk what to do with Lowrance HDS 10 now put on stern I guess. Will two different structure scan on stern interfere with each other?

Guess I could sale I pilot PD and HDS 10 but want bring what its worth I'm sure. Ideally I'd have 1199 at console 959 on stern 959 on bow.

Curious to how "which location" multiple birds will save waypoints with built in GPS? If I'm understanding it right the link will share it with I pilot putting bow on waypoint every time?

The Humminbird units sends the co-ordinates to the I-pilot ......The I-pilot has it's own GPS and uses it to navigate to the waypoint or track sent to it.

If you put an 1199 at the console, you would probably want to add an external GPS mounted as close to it's transducer as possible. This will give you the most accurate waypoint mark.....it would be good to make that one a Heading Sensor GPS.

The 959 at the stern wouldn't necessarily have to have a transducer if you had the 1199 transducer mounted there since once your network is complete you can share the transducers......You would even be able to view SI on the 959 thru the 1199.....Read more about the networking and you will see there is an extreme amount of flexibility with sharing data, transducer, GPS, Waypoints, etc.

It would probably also be a good idea to make the bow 959 a DI unit..... That way, you will also have a dedicated DI transducer for better DI clarity, and you would be able to share that on either of the other units.....The one on the stern could just be a 959 ci to save some money.
